Why is there no zip on passes in this game?

Doesn’t the saying go “ball moves faster than the defense”? Apparently 2k did not get the memo. Almost every pass is floated and the defense runs at the same speed the ball moves. Guys can sit in a zone and have one defender at the elbow cover the corner and the elbow three and get interceptions. Also when passing into the paint, your big man will literally crouch on their way to the basket to allow smaller players to intercept the pass. It’s like they’re encouraging you not to pass the ball more than once in a possession. Rarely do you see simple deflections. Every player can straight up intercept a pass. For a MyTeam player or someone that uses classic teams, what is the point of using Kawhi Leonard or Michael Jordan if every player is going to have the same ability to play passing lanes?

The needle threader badge will also increase players' pass speed.

and eventually the higher you get it, it will give you the ability to pass THRU people. thats right. THRU people's bodies.
which goes back to the issue with 2k. something is always OP. makes no sense.

there isnt enough zip on passes because if there was then people would get exposed when they leave the weak side corner wide open.

2k 5v5 online is just way aggresive help D, if not full blown triple team onball..

It kinda helps to use the skip pass input (hold pass button down, X for ps4).

If passes were quicker people would have to play team basketball on both ends of the court

The problem with that skip pass mechanic ever since it was introduced a couple 2Ks ago is that those passes don't come out of your hand right away there's around a full second of input delay from the moment you hold down the pass button to the moment the ball leaves your hand, and that added delay usually gives the defense enough time to recover and get a closeout/steal/deflection while you're "charging up" one of those skip passes to an open teammate.

Throwing a skip pass with that mechanic as it's currently designed feels like throwing a Sonic Boom with Guile in Street Fighter.
