Four Out Corners Tight is Boxes & Elbows

Four Out Corners Tight:
The "four corners" is referring to the four corners of the paint. This is basically how it works, your best perimeter defender defends there best perimiter player. -Quoted from Reddit

Boxes & Elbows:
A man to man concept (can look like a zone when ran) where the player it is selected for will have his man guarding him and the other 4 defenders on the two elbows and just outside the paint on either side of the rim. You are giving up shots to get the ball out of the selected player's hands. - Quoted NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki (Operation Sports)

What's the effing difference?

Re: Four Out Corners Tight is Boxes & Elbows

Four Corners sounds more like a straight up Box and One, as opposed to a man concept, no?

Ahh.. sorry.
"Four out" is a Team Adjustment setting while "Boxes" is a Focus on Player setting.

What if we use Four out on the warriors then Boxes & Elbows Curry?
It's like you're double guarding Steph. Isn't that overkill?

Scott OG does a poor job of explaining defensive settings.

like someone already stated. this is a box and 1. you can try to act like its new (not you but whoever brings it up) but its not. its a box and 1 defense.

1 guy mans up on the best perimeter guy following him around. while the other 4 guys are playing a box like zone defense to protect the paint. This works well vs teams without shooters. but if they have multiple shooters, the box will be broken because someone has to go guard the other shooters.

This is the defense the celtics played on Kobe the year the celtics got their 1 ring with Doc rivers and Thibs. And when you have KG on the back line and pierce running around with a young rondo. with sheed back there too. thats lock down defense. you aint getting to the cup. and as we know the nba refs do, they always side with defensive minded teams over offensive minded teams in the finals. so you wont get the calls you deserve either. so call it a day. you're about to lose. lol.

The only person that had the strength and athleticism/size to beat it is bron. That combination of alien like size/strength with the crazy athletic ability overpowered that defense. even though bron wasnt a shooter like a kobe. he could shed those fouls from the perimeter guys. paul pierce as big as he was (bigger than kobe) couldnt bother bron at all. just a flea on his shoulder...watch out little fella..i'm 265+. Think about it bron was probably heavier or as heavy as the heaviest person on the C's. but moving around like prime rondo.

You can also call it a diamond + 1 defense. still a box if you know anything about diamonds. they are just a box rotated. The way 2k is setup. you should be playing some form of a pseudo zone at all times. the interceptor badges are just too powerful not to. if they ever fix that then real defenses will come into count.

means the first one Guards the Ball man to man all the time regardless of who has the Ball, while the 2nd one Guards one specific Player man to man, regardless of if He has the Ball.

Re: Four Out Corners Tight is Boxes & Elbows

I believe he explained it in his life stream

If I recall correctly it's like a box and 1 except they're looking to protect the 3pt line

It's a long Livestream but great info and worth it
