Why Can’t I Play MyCareer on Rookie anymore?

After having another game of frustration vs cpu when trying to mindlessly bring my stupid OVR rating back up to 99, I went into options and checked what difficulty I was on.

Without my doing, the game changed to Pro and Rookie is no longer selectable.

My teammates are playing more stupidly, I get rubbish animations and my stamina is completely depleted after the 2nd quarter.

I often feel like my player is being dragged to weird places on the court and momentum is completely different.

I know this change happened when they put that crap new mode MyPlayer Nation in because I actually lost to the Nets in mycareer trying to dunk all over everyone like I normally do.

I’m all for trying to implement ‘competitive balance’ in that stupid new mode but don’t dictate to me how I play mycareer as a result.

I wouldn’t even be wasting my time with mycareer if the OVR system wasn’t fundamentally broken as usually I just sim to the playoffs and play them on HOF for fun when online teammates drive me crazy - but now I have to deal with what feels like online lag, even dumber AI teammates and having to set rotations before every game because they won’t save any more.

Also short shorts don’t work in rec anymore even though in clothes menu short is selected. I have a phantom notification in the clothes section after I bought some shoes and have equipped them and I’m sure if I carry on playing I’ll find another bug or glitch introduced by this new mode.

Has anyone else had the same or similar issues?

No one wanted this stupid mode and now it’s broken the one mode that actually worked well out the box - MyCareer. 2k are losing my goodwill very quickly.

It was removed last year because it was abused by people to level their badges in the years before. Does not make sense in 2k20 because you dont level badges individually anymore, but thats 2k logic...

So you’re telling me when I was playing the other week it was on Pro?

So they’ve actually just messed with the difficulty settings and ruined the mode?

Has anyone else noticed massive AI changes and the whole feel of the game since the MyPlayer Nation has been added?

Have had max badges for at least 3 weeks - it’s a grind but nowhere near as bad as having to try and force certain shots all game.

I am certain they’ve changed the difficulty.

Cpu players on opposing team are scoring 45% contested shots now when I have a lockdown with HOF intimidator.

Before the MyPlayer Nation was added I was able to stop them from scoring on almost every shot.

Edit: players don’t pass immediately when calling for the pass anymore either.

Can say with 100% certainty that they have tweaked stamina too.

People would have maxed badges regardless of difficulty. I was getting about 5-6 badges per game on HOF. It's all about the method, not difficulty IMO.

Many people have been wanting career to be separated from the rest of the game but 2k won't do it it since they have no reason to. Record sales every year.

Also, the game you get on day 1 will not resemble the game after a few updates/patches. It's that way every year. Many times the features they used to sell the game are removed or dramatically changed after release.
