The Pride of Queens | A New York Mets Franchise | MLB The Show 19

Hello everybody!

This will be my first attempt at a Dynasty thread, so please feel free to give me tips or advice, you can call me Chad. I will be starting a new Franchise on MLB The Show 19 using the New York Mets.

I am using the RidinRosters Trade Deadline roster (https://twitter.com/ridinrosters?lang=en) in order to get the most realistic roster for this Franchise. I will be playing with the hitting difficulty on All-Star and the pitching difficulty on Hall of Fame. Feel free to chime in on your perception of the difficulty and I can adjust accordingly. My plan is to select one pitcher of out the starting rotation and play only that pitcher's starts. The other games will be simulated. I will be scouting and managing the team on the side, the CPU will not be responsible for any tasks.

I will be making trades and other various roster moves after a few weeks of gameplay, I want to get a feel for the team first. At heart I am a Kansas City Royals fan, so I'm most familiar with the 2015 Mets that the Royals faced in the World Series.

Below I've listed the 5 starting pitchers in the rotation. Please vote using the poll above!! I will wait until Saturday August 31st 2019. If I don't get any hits on this then I will randomly select a pitcher.

Until that date I will be checking in on here to see if the thread is getting any traffic. Please feel free to comment on the thread or PM me!!

The link below is an upload of the rotation as it is right now, I scroll through the 5 starters displaying their overall ratings.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD48jHtB15U

Jacob deGrom (RHP 94 overall)

Noah Syndergaard (RHP 85 overall)

Marcus Stroman (RHP 86 overall)

Zack Wheeler (RHP 82 overall)

Steven Matz (LHP 78 overall)

The following entries will be showcasing young talent at each positions. These will be players that I will hope to develop and use in the future.

There will also be a cornerstone feature, which will highlight the most crucial pieces to the puzzles for this Mets club to be successful.

STARTING PITCHERS SHOWCASE

The link above is a preview of all the Starting Pitchers in the organization.

I will be going into detail with 4 different starting pitchers that I think have serious potential to grow and make an impact for the big league club in a few seasons.

Below will be links to each of their individual player cards

I will be doing this for each position in the next few days, my goal is to highlight players that I'd like to consider valuable or maybe even untouchable in trade talks. I would love to identify a few cornerstone pieces on this roster to build around and supplement.

Chris Flexen Spotlight

Image result for chris flexen

Chris Flexen is a 24 year old right hander who sports a 65 overall with a B potential. His pitching repertoire consists of 2-Seam Fastball topping out around 92 mph, a Slider touching 86 mph, a 4-Seam Fastball that reaches 93 mph, a Changeup that comes in at 80 mph, and finally a Curveball at 76 mph. Chris has a nice selection of pitches, especially for someone with decent velocity who has potential to gain even more. My hope is that with 70 stamina Chris will be able to go 6+ innings easily in AAA and when he eventually reaches the majors, even 7-8+. I will be keeping an eye on Chris all season long and may give him some innings in Spring Training.

Corey Oswalt Spotlight

Related image

Corey Oswalt is a 25 year old right hander with a 64 overall rating and a B potential rating. Corey has a 4 pitch arsenal, starting with a 91 mph 4-Seam Fastball, an 89 mph Sinker, an 80 mph Curveball, and an 82 mph Changeup. Corey gets great spin on his pitchers and owns a 76 Break rating, which will make his Sinker that much more deadly for an out pitch. Corey will be on the watch list all season and may also receive some Spring Training innings.

Thomas Szapucki Spotlight

Image result for thomas szapucki

Thomas is a 22 year old Southpaw who reigns from Florida. Thomas is one of the organizations more coveted minor league prospects. Thomas has the rare combination of high velocity potential and break coupled with the fact that he is left handed. Thomas throws a 93 mph 4-Seam Fastball, an 86 mph Slider, and an 84 mph Circle Change. He should be set to dominate A with a strong fastball from the left side and a nasty slider to boot. Although he may not see time this year in spring training, he may see some upward movement through the minors given some success.

Matthew Allan Spotlight

Image result for matthew allan baseball

Matthew Allan, a right handed 3rd round selection in 2019, has the makeup and potential to be a stud in the coming years. Matthew is only 18 years old and has an A potential. He has excellent Stamina, a 76 rating, and excellent velocity, at a 74 rating. He throws a 93 mph 4-Seam Fastball, a 78 mph 12-6 Curveball, and an 84 mph Changeup. Matthew will need to focus on his control and missing bats in A ball this year but has tremendous upside and raw talent.

RELIEF PITCHERS SPOTLIGHT

Daniel Zamora

Related image

Daniel Zamora is a left handed 25 year old from California who has spent about 6 months with the Mets down in AA. He had strong velocity and control coupled with a knack for getting strikeouts. He throws a 92 mph 4-Seam Fastball, an 81 mph Slider, an 80 mph Changeup, and a 90 mph 2-Seam Fastball. He needs work on the 2-Seam Fastball, which will be a focus during his time in the minors. He has a tendency to challenge hitters with the 2-Seam but he tends to miss to right handed batters, leaving it over the inside part of the plate. Daniel holds alot of potential with a 61 overall and a B potential.

Ryley Gilliam

Related image

Ryley Gilliam, a 22 year old righty from Georgia, is a prototypical power pitcher. He will look to improve his control while pitching down in A ball. He brings a 94 mph 4-Seam Fastball, a 78 mph 12-6 Curve, and an 83 mph Changeup. The 11 mph dip between his Fastball and Changeup will be his bread and butter while he develops. The hook will be his out pitch when he is commanding the fastball and changeup effectively. Ryley is a 60 overall with a B potential but has the tools to be great with time.
