Favorite closer?

I'm curious who ppl use as the "go to guy" to close out games playing in diamond dynasty... Without using flashback, rookie or any legends... Your favorite relief pitcher to use to close out games for you...

I've tried a few different guys like Hader, or Edwin Diaz... But I always go back to using Blake Treinen. He's only got an 83 rating as a base... But he's usually modded to 87 or 88. He's got a good selection of pitches (sinker, 4 seam, slider and a cutter). He's been the most solid RP/CP I've played with... And I've got several diamond relievers. Even when he isn't modified up, I go with him. I've got 70 plus saves with him so far...

I've used Hader, Diaz, Osuna, Jensen, Chapman, as well as a few others. But I always go back to using him for my main closer.

So who do you guys like using?

Re: Favorite closer?

Overall, the most solid arm I've used thus far is the LS Felipe Vasquez when he gets an IE bump in OVR. Solid power FB, Power Slider, and a good Curve to keep hitters off balance.

I have been having success with Trenien for right now -- I suspect that when I start playing better hitters, they'll be able to sit on his sinker.

Re: Favorite closer?

Sean Doolittle has been in my bullpen for a while and has been lights out pretty much the entire time.

Re: Favorite closer?

I don't really have a closer. I strictly play matchups and given we have to hit with the pitcher I manage around that spot as I don't typically double switch.

I have Chapman in my closer role but he's been the least used guy in my pen. In fact I think I can count on one hand the number of times I used him.

My go to LHP is LS Vazquez. He's absolutely nasty and one day I'll finish the Pirates affinity for his superior card. I'm still using FB Venters as well although my usage has fallen off.

I think the theme of the thread was non-legend but Goose is my go to if I need multiple innings. He can usually go 2 innings without much effort and bridge my bulloen. I use Osuna in a similar role and I love his pitch mix.

I also use Treinen a lot. Establish his fastball and sinker and the cutter/slider plays off it really well. I do find him tough to use sometimes because he doesn't have a drastic velocity differential so if I'm struggling on the mound on a particular day I might use him in a non-leverage situation.

Re: Favorite closer?

I don't have a set closer, kind of depends on the flow of the game. With that said...

My favorites:
Rollie Fingers (Brewers Affinity)
Felipe Rivero (Pirates Affinity)
SS Trevor Hoffman
David Robertson (Yankees Affinity)

These are pitchers I can't pitch with, or pitchers I look forward to crushing:
LS Blake Treinen
LS Edwin Diaz
IV Robb Nen
LS Sean Doolittle

Yes I realize that many of you just listed those lol but I'm serious, I kill/get killed with those guys. I'll update this list the more I see it.

Also, I don't have Gossage, but he's typically done well for me in BR. He still blows his fair share of games (That's what'll happen to you in BR), but anybody can get got.

Re: Favorite closer?

I think Gossage has a .28 era for me and 35 saves? He’s def my go to. Also love that Percival card from the Angels collection and the Robertson card from the Yankees Affinity. But Goose is def the go to.

I LOVE Filipe Vazquez!!!! He's usually the first lefty out of the pen for me. He has a great heater, and a nasty, filthy slider... IMO, he should be higher than an 82. He's got the mad skills as a RP.

Doolittle is my second lefty from the pen. Love his slider. It's for a ton of movement on it. I wouldn't be shocked to see him ending up as a diamond in the next player update. He is rock solid.
