Only one third off, still $10 away from half off. And only $8 less than Best Buy was already accepting from Gamers Club members (similar to the price Amazon Prime members used to get for pre-orders IIRC).

Don't buy many video games anymore but I seem to see a lot of sports games getting quickly discounted at big box retailers these days. $39.99 seems to be the sweet spot for these yearly releases.

Retailers do this all the time. The sale price has nothing to do with quality of the game.

MK11 was $49.99 last week at Best Buy and it hasn't been out a month yet.

Retailers will drop the price to move their inventory.

The price is in the weekly ad too so I assume the discount applies in-store as well. You could also go into a Best Buy and have them price match Target's online price.

Does Gamestop price match anymore? Don't shop there often but both Targets close to me are sold out and Best Buy isn't close enough for me today.
