Which 2K was the Best Game Out of the Box?

In addition to this question, which game do you all feel was ruined or succeeded most by post-patch updates?

If you remember your experience, what would your order of preference be if each title was left in its pristine condition?

2K15 was good when it had NO SHOT METER.

It was just a blink where you would get the release point instead of these green bars which ruin the game.

NBA 2K19 out of the box was the closest thing to real basketball we ever had and then 2K gave in to the whiny, non-basketball playing folks instead of making them play real ball and have to think. I wish I could revert mine back to pre-patch. We finally got ball tangibility like real life. You finally had to look at your other options when running a play because the defense was overplaying your initial pass like real life. If you didn’t manually protect the ball you ran a high risk of having your pocket picked like real life. The first game I played I had 22 turnovers, but it was great because I finally had to pay high regard to the defense as they were no longer magically hindered from stealing passes thrown right to them...like real life. From playing Lakers vs Celtics, Coach K Basketball and all the other titles we had back in the day it finally felt like a real basketball game and it was taken away weeks after because of laziness and I will say a substantial amount of morons who weren’t playing basketball and just spamming. This should have and I hope will be built upon in the future as opposed to going backwards as they did. Bring balance to spamming steals like in real life where you get out of position reaching too much or fouls called on you. Yeah, 2K19 for me.

2k14 to 2k19 have been ruined the Most by patches. All Played pretty Solid out of the Box and in the end became a crapload.

I concur. I can't really think of any that I thought sucked right out of the box. NBA 2K15 was damaged the most when they gave it the infamous final patch of the year where everyone and their momma could get a green release. Of course, the MyPark/Pro-Am crowd probably it was greatest thing ever, because they could green release every shot with ease.

I felt that way as well. In September-October, 2K19 was much more balanced and each game played unique.

Around December-January I began to use sliders to help remedy the effect of patches and return the game to its former state, but couldn't replicate the same level of consistency for shot contact and ball tangibility. I was still enjoying the game, though.

From there, everything sunk. I haven't seen specific animations for months and now for me, there isn't a single slider set to balance the game again.

I agree with you and others when it comes to 2K19. I almost feel the exact way about 2K17, which besides this year's edition and 2K15, may have been riddled the most by patches and live updates.

"Brick-Wall Defense" destroyed any level of realism by warping defenders and taking away every opposing angle from the ball-handler. The game took so much of a beating from patches that by midway through the year you never knew when you were open lol.

Other than the fact that they maxed out with its predecessor, 2K17 is probably one of the reasons why 2K switched game engines. That game was unsalvageable outside of online play. Personally, if every game was kept in its originally state:

2K19/2K16
2K17
2K18
2K14
2K15

Post-Patch:

2K16
2K19
2K14
2K18
2K15/2K17
