how do you extend contacts during the season in franchise?

how do you extend contacts during the season in franchise? I can't seem to figure it out.

I extended some contracts at season start to help boost player morale. It was in the list on the main page of franchise , to the right of the two players. Only certain players were available though.

I assume its only players in the last year of their contract? Does that go away if you sim a couple of weeks? I will have to check again, what category was it under. I am using the red sox and wanted to extend Chirs Sale since the Sox just did in real life.

You can only extend guys who are in the final year of their contract.

And there are two phases in which you can extend contracts:

1) Spring Training
2) Trade Deadline Prep

Outside of those two phases, contract extensions are not available.
