Sancty's Retro WWE 2K19 Dynasty (Aug 1993) - Life After Hulkamania

This is a simulation that I have run over the life of past two games. Starting the day after Wrestlemania VI and trying as much as possible to honour real-life scenarios with only exceptions if the superstar who is supposed to jump ship or retire is on the run of his career or is a champion. My goal is to make it all the way to the current product and see how my wrestling simulation changes the wrestling universe as we know it.

CURRENT DATE - November 1, 1993

World Wrestling Federation

I am 3 years in and WWF have made some interesting decisions with title runs for The Barbarian, Jimmy Snuka, a 274 day run for Nikolai Volkoff, and a pair of runs by the Warlord eliminating some progressive runs by a very young Undertaker, Randy Savage, and Scott Steiner.

The Royal Rumble hasn't been kind with Brutus Beefcake, Bushwhacker Butch, and Typhoon as the winners to this point with Typhoon being the first to challenge for the World Title (as per Yokozuna rule) in 1993, albeit unsuccessfully against Scott Steiner.

The IC strap has been more traditionally distributed (albeit like a hot potato) with Mr Perfect, Bret Hart, Koko B Ware, Warlord, Boss Man, Dino Bravo, HBK, IRS, and Ted DiBiase all enjoying turns with the strap (Bret and DiBiase with 2 each).

The WWF Tag belts have seen only 2 champs in 3+ years with a 357 day reign by Demolition giving way to a 2 year plus run by Duggan & Volkoff.

HBK won the inaugural King of the Ring tournament (beating Marty Jannetty in the final) and will face The Warlord at Summerslam for the Winged Eagle belt.

Current Champions - World Wrestling Federation

World Champion - Shawn Michaels
Intercontinental Champion - I.R.S. (2)
Tag Team Champions - The Super Powers (Volkoff & Duggan)
King of the Ring - Shawn Michaels
Royal Rumble Winner - Typhoon

World Championship Wrestling

The World Title picture started off all over the place with shock push attempts like Oz and Bobby Eaton having single runs. However, the majority of time for the big gold belt has been with established ring generals like Ric Flair (3 runs), Arn Anderson (3 runs), Larry Zbyszko, Scott & Rick Steiner, and Vader.

The U.S. Title picture is also quite reliable with Dusty Rhodes, Arn, Steamboat, Rick & Scott Steiner, Greg Valentine, a young Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Sting having single runs with the belts.

The tag belts have proven much more volatile than their WWF counterparts with The Hollywood Blonds, Sting & Luger, The Steiners, Windham & Dustin Rhodes, DDP & Vinnie Vegas, and The Mongols (El Gigante & Barbarian) each enjoying single runs. The single run by The Mongols resulted in El Gigante turning down a run to face off with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania.

Current Champions - World Championship Wrestling

World Champion - Arn Anderson (3)
United States Champion - Marcus Alexander Bagwell (2)
Tag Team Champions - The Hollywood Blonds (2)

Eastern Championship Wrestling

ECW has just hit the national consciousness somewhat in recent months with its hardcore tendencies seeming to be a bit of a clash with the more traditional National Wrestling Alliance. However, there seems to be a marriage of mutual convenience between the two.

Extreme Championship Wrestling - Current Champions

Eastern Championship Wrestling Champion - Jimmy Snuka
Eastern Championship Wrestling Tag Team Champions - Vacant

NEWS UPDATE - AUGUST 1, 1993

It's rumoured that WWF are planning to feature a smaller variety of jobbers on their minor shows to provide an opportunity to market the jobbers as personalities as well. This bodes well for such enhancement talent as Barry Horowitz, and the Brooklyn Brawler.

WWF have begun running debut vignettes for a Finnish character who goes by the moniker of Ludvig Borga. We're hearing early reports of a plan to partner him with The Undertaker

We continue to hear that Vince McMahon has had enough of former headliner, Hulk Hogan's politicking and is determined to go 'all-in' with his youth movement despite featuring a fairly high number of experienced talents in prominent positions.

Ted DiBiase continues to complain about pain in his back hampering his work.

Fred Ottman (Typhoon) is said to have left the WWF for WCW. It's said that Turner's men have big plans for Ottman's shocking debut. Ole Anderson is said to be the man with the plan for Clash of the Champions.

WWF is running Summerslam at the end of the month with Warlord (c) vs Shawn Michaels for World Title the only match pencilled in on the card to this point. Vince is said to be unsure of which American hero to pit against his foreign monster Yokozuna (who hasn't taken off the way he had hoped and Vince feels he really needs to get over), Hulk Hogan, or the freshly Made in the USA, Lex Luger.

Re: WWE 2K19 Dynasty - Life After Hulkamania

NEWS UPDATE - AUGUST 2, 1993

Barry Horowitz ended a multi-year losing streak against Macho Man Randy Savage in the Main Event of this week's Monday Night Raw

Horowitz was beside himself with joy after the shock win while Savage handled the loss with grace, offering the upstart a handshake, albeit somewhat begrudgingly.

Industry insiders believe the move is the latest by Vince McMahon to try and strongarm out the experienced wrestlers in an attempt to free up the top spots for younger talent. They do say that Horowitz is not earmarked for bigger things which makes the loss by Savage all the more confusing and clandestine in nature.

Re: WWE 2K19 Dynasty - Life After Hulkamania

NEWS UPDATE - AUGUST 27, 1993

Tag team wrestling is on the rise in WCW with the debut of a new young team, Harlem Heat. Real-life brothers, Booker T and Stevie Ray seem to have raw natural talent but only time will tell how they will fare in Atlanta. Sting & a newly babyface Rick Rude have formed a tag team and have a non-title win over Tag Champs, The Mongols (El Gigante & Barbarian).

Fred Ottman has been repackaged as the Shockmaster and despite a tricky situation when he burst through the wall, he narrowly avoided falling over and walked to the ring to squash Ron Simmons. The rest of the run this month hasn't been as dominant though.

In the WWF, newcomer, The 1-2-3 Kid picked up a non-title win over a visibly ailing, Ted DiBiase. This suggests the IC Champ is vulnerable heading into a Summerslam IC defense against former partner, IRS.

The WWF are clearly in full-on youth movement mode with former headliners, Savage and Hogan taking numerous losses on the month while Bret Hart, and especially Shawn Michaels, are picking up wins at a torrid pace.

WWF SUMMERSLAM CARD
(subject to change)

Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna

Mr Perfect vs Bret Hart

Irwin R. Schyster vs Ted DiBiase (c)
Intercontinental Championship Match

Doink & Owen Hart vs The Smoking Gunns

The Steiner Brothers vs. The Super Powers (c)
Tag Team Championship Match

Undertaker vs. Macho Man Randy Savage

Shawn Michaels vs Warlord (c)
World Heavyweight Championship Match
