Break Tackle and Elusive

My initial thought was that Elusive was when the defender struggles to make a tackle on the ball carrier. When the ball carrier is " Slippery" and cant be brought down.
Then i look at break tackle... the defender is wrapped up and the ball carrier seems to ...well break from the tackle.

Can anyone shed some light on the topic.

Re: Break Tackle and Elusive

I’m not 100% sure, but a guess is elusive being similar to what you’re saying, but maybe to more specifically differentiate the 2, maybe if u have the situation where a defender is close enough to tackle u. If u have high elusiveness, maybe the defender naturally misses u. But, with high break tackle, maybe the defender hits u and bounces off. Again, I’m not sure, but I could see that as a way to simply differentiate RBs basically with animation choice differences to trigger.

Re: Break Tackle and Elusive

I would define real life terms for

elusive meaning more or less the ability to keep the opponent from laying a hand on you: you juke and jive, reverse fields, duck under a guy coming high, leap over a guy going low;

break tackle as you said, he hits you, wraps you and you can break free and don't go down.

I'm not entirely sure how they incorporate elusive; spin move; juke move...if you are not elusive, does it matter how high your juke move is? is it the propensity to try those moves, or is it that someone with a high juke move rating is more apt to avoid a hit even if his elusive rating is low? Personally, I think they have way too many ratings categories for some aspects of the game.

I'm going to be honest.

In my opinion, I think this is one of those deals where Madden has ratings just for the sake of having ratings. Think about it... do you really tell the difference between a RB with a 0 'ball carrier vision' vs a 99? What exactly does awareness do for the WR?

I think it is there just to artificially inflate ratings.

I think BCV ties into hitting seams in the zone run schemes. I have noticed that once my RB BCV got to a 90 there was less random block sheds by the DL when i hit the cutback lane. In my online league, I have 94, 99, 95 at my two G's and my C. The DL would make the play more often than not when my BCV was below 90.

Might be a little different than the topic, but wasn't their a button or 2 that you can press while running through a hole that turns your RB sideways like he's squeezing through? Was that this madden or last madden, I remember it early in madden, just couldn't remember which madden it was or the button

Yeah, I've also always noticed rbs with better bcv get through holes better and the r1+truck works better.

I believe Ball Carrier Vision may have addition effects on players around him, such as blockers. The hole may be just a little bit bigger. Thus the quality of a RB can cause linemen to gain a slight blocking boost.
