I love WWE 2k19, but they could go such a long way towards recreating the No Mercy magic if they would just go back to separate buttons for strike and grapple reversals.* It was the guessing game that made winning so rewarding in those games.* Currently it's just too easy to time and perform reversals, especially on signatures and finishers.

One button for strikes, one for grapples, both simultaneously for finishers.

There already has been. No Mercy was great, but these days, I'll take Here Comes the Pain, SDVR 2006, and Fire Pro Returns for combining terrific gameplay with insane amount of content and/or customization that basically give you endless ways to play it (I still have my GM Mode notebooks of data). Also, revisiting No Mercy and its frustrating AI tactics, paltry match options, slow multiplayer frame rate, and one of the worst data-wiping glitches of all time ding it in retrospect.

NOPE. Not unless they go back to that engine with updated graphics. THQ and AKI would have to be involved.

Fire Pro games, Day of Reckoning 2, HCTP, 2K14, etc are all as good or better.* I think WCW Revenge was the best N64 wrestling game anyway.

WM2K was the best. the Smackdown games on PS2 were really good too. I think I had a problem with No Mercy that steered me back to WM2K but I can't remember what it was now.

Funny to see this today as I just bought WWE 2K19 last night. I do like it. Need more time with it. But I STILL miss Here Comes The Pain from so many years ago.

I never had No Mercy so this one was it for me.

Day of reckoning 2 was an absolute blast yet was still using the same gameplay mechanics that was layed down during NO Mercy. *I would give anything for a modern wrestling game to use the gameplay mechanics of yester year. It had depth yet was simple to learn and use.*
