Things from previous EA combat sport games that you'd like to see in UFC 4

GPD mentioned in an interview that they can take some animations from previous games and add them to the UFC series. I figure we could come up with some stuff from past games that could add more depth to the current series. Maybe some stuff here could make it in UFC 4, hell if we're lucky something will make it in UFC 3. Also shout out to the Devs for their continued support and changes. This game is seriously completely different from the one on release. You have no idea how cool it is to have a team like this one committed to provided a great product.

Anyway my suggestions would be:
Locomotion in the clinch from EA MMA

The movement in the clinch right now is pretty poor and one of the few eye sores left in the game. This would help make the clinch feel more frantic. It'd be cool if pushing someone forward provided momentum for your body lock trip, and for your opponent's hip toss.

Bring back some parry animations from UFC 2. Before y'all grab your torches and pitchforks hear me out. I don't want them to be anything like they were in previous EA games. The idea would be the window would tighter based on your fighter's block rating. Also the input would be R1+R2 left or R1+R2 right. So parries would operate based on left/right inputs. They'd only be available for jabs/straights and body kicks. Have it work just like a block counter. Opponent can still sway or lunge out of the way of any counter strikes. For body kicks it would only be possible while moving away from the kick.

Those animations look great and would work well if the attacker could still dodge after being parried.

Mistimed parries would have added vulnerability and a recovery window. So impossible to spam them. It would promote more feinting especially mid combo. Here's the mistimed animation from EA MMA.

Free posture system from UFC 1

Allow us to freely posture up like in UFC 1. I think it should work the exact same way as mount does. Allow the bottom folder to control posture by holding us in place using a little bit of stamina drain. While we're being controlled they'd have the option to transition to everything offered from bottom FG. Fighter on top would have the option to force a posture up by transition when being held.

Thoughts or any other ideas?

I would like shifting strikes to be added back. Striking mid stance switch was something great for Dillashaw and Cruz. Now only Thompson can do it with his stationary kicks no punches.

If you held l1 it would throw strikes with power instead of speed. Fast fast hard verry basic real life concept l1 throws hooks now

A note on that free posture bit, if we can do that in guard, the guy on bottom's legs shouldn't automatically open. He should still have closed guard. Then have the posture up open guard as a transition, as it is now I think.

That way, you'd be open to throw some elbows from closed guard but nothing hard hitting like you could in open guard, as your hips will still be trapped by the guy on bottom. Also, it could drain stamina like the back flat position does.

The parry animations look sweet. One thing I'd say though is the parry vs a cross should be very difficult to pull off if you stand stationary. If someone blasts a cross at you and you stand still and try to parry it, chances are it'll go crashing through your hands anyway, if the guy has fully committed to it. Either the animation for stationary parry would need to be something else like a deflection of sorts using more of the arm or a Mayweather style shoulder roll.

And then like you said, both guys would need to have full control of their fighters, even if being parried. No freebies.

I'd like to see the philly style block back for some fighters like Bobby Green.

I like this one a lot. Most fighters don't throw power shots because they don't have knockout power anyway.

I'd love to see a system where you could choose to throw a lower power shot that increases your accuracy. Then up the stamina drain on power shots, which should be harder to land anyway, but maybe give them a boost in power so when they do land it's lights out.
