Back at it again with NHL 19 Sliders and my keep it simple scale in hopes of not getting slideritus.

The scale (0/12/25/37/50/62/75/87/100)

I'm starting with what I ended the year with in 18. Then adjust from there, but I feel like I won't be changing a ton.

These are not the end all be all but they give me fantastic games. I'm settled in with that EA is giving us an arcade game with sim elements and I play and treat the game as such. Just trying to have some fun games with proper stats where possible.

Back at it again with NHL 18 Sliders and my keep it simple scale in hopes of not getting slideritus.

The scale (0/12/25/37/50/62/75/87/100)

I play home games on All-Star and road games on Superstar. For me this keeps Franchise mode games more exciting with home ice advantage and having to be on your toes when playing on the road.

I had some solid results last year with NHL 17 for the most part late in the year once I figured out there was a save glitch after making changes to an initial pre-set save. See below for the issue and from what I saw so far, it's still an issue with NHL 18.

After you create and save an initial pre-set (mine Fiddy14) any changes after that don't stick unless you cycle through the pre-sets and go back to it (mine Fiddy14). Example, I set my pre-set and sliders and then save it. Play a few games and want to make a change. I make said change, save it, back out, and go back in. The slider is back to what it was prior to the save. To make sure the changes stick you have to save it as you would normally, then cycle through all the pre-sets until you get back to yours and the changes you made will be there. Odd glitch, but that's the small work around.

Remember, the CPU Strategy Adjustment slider makes the CPU harder to play against the higher it is. Coupled with the AI Learning slider you can adjust these up or down a bit to your liking and not worry about adjusting other sliders. You can also just match the CPU with the USER Strategy slider to keep things even.

I haven't touched anything yet.. how does the game play with AE on 10? All my goals so far have been with my top 2 lines so I haven't messed with the AE slider yet.

It seems to be about the same IMO as last year. Not a ton of games under my belt, but the base of what we both were doing last year seems unchanged.

Finally sat down and played a game this morning.

8 min periods and I lowered CPU strat down from 6 to 3. That lead to a dominating game for me. Going to bump that to 4 next. Try and find a happy medium there for now.

Just created my Franchise, all set up and ready for opening night. I’ll post game 1 results later this evening when I play it. I feel like I’m 10 years behind all the usual spider guys etc. LoL. Look forward to pushing through this year and making adjustments along the way.

Game 1



The Pens came out and dominated the first two periods. Letang scored 5 hole from the point just 50 seconds into the game. Capitals scored late in the 1st to make it 2-1 at the intermission.

Pens scored 3 more times in the 2nd and honestly until the 4th goal the Caps showed no life.

After that the Caps were all over us and Murray made some huge saves on Ovie and Backstrom.

Caps added a goal in the 3rd to make it 5-2 and that’s how it ended.

Fun game to start the season.

Game 2



Habs came out the gate smoking and scored early to go up 1-0. Pens evened out the rest of the 1st period ice wise and then took control in the 2nd period by scoring 2 PP goals in a row. One on a 5 on 3, then right after on the 5-4. Never looked back after that. Lots of zone time got us 7 PP’s total and the ice was tilted the rest of the game.

Game 3



What action in this one.

Pens up 3-0 early then we blinked and it was 4-4 all of a sudden. Then a parade of penalties for both teams etc. Looking like I’m going to need to bump down the penalties a bit. First two games the CPU wasn’t as aggressive with stick lifts, hooks, etc. Then this game Vegas couldn’t stop. Maybe under the hood settings for them playing an aggressive game?

My penalties were trips and a boarding.
