No huddle advice

Thinking about running an all gun no huddle. In all the years I never ran no huddle on a regular basis and looking for any advice info that may help easily adjust. I do know from running 2 min offense that some runs are glitchy where a QB doesn't hand off or the play just is broken. Is there any reason or specifics of this so I know to avoid specific calls or so forth. Not looking for all the wise mans words just some little tips. Thabks

I ran it a lot for a while. I suggest using a lot of formations that are 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB. When you run no huddle you are limited to formations based on your personnel on the field. So it's best to have a lot of formations that use the same packages, that way you have a lot of options to change formations during the drive.

I've never noticed any certain play that is broken when going no huddle, others may be able to chime in.

If you want them to look to the sideline for the play, set your no huddle style to conservative in coaching philosophy. At least I think that how you do it.

Always wondered how that worked, I don't see a lot teams QB looking to sideline but then when I'm trying to save time my Qb always wastes my time by looking.

Yeah I never used that method, I just always ran it normal so they didn't look. I think if you set the in game coaching adjustment to "aggressive" though, like for a 2 minute approach, they just line up and go without looking. I can't say for sure though, so maybe test that lol

SilverBullet19 has the right idea regarding personnel groupings. I made a custom playbook where I have a dozen plays in the same formation that provide me a diverse enough attack. I have an Ace Formation with an 11 personnel (3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 RB) with 15 plays I'm comfortable running on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and 5 or less.


You will likely need to perform substitutions after 4 -- 8 plays (depending on the type of play and the amount of effort), so if you like about 10 plays in a formation it would be a good candidate to start off with.


The QB will waste time in the no huddle sometimes and I'm not sure setting the coaching adjustment to aggressive (which mine is set at) changes it that much. Typically they'll periodically look to the sideline of the QB will walk up to the linemen or receiver to communicate the play. I don't think this type of delay can be eliminated, but it might be minimized. It is highly frustrating when you are running out of time in the half and the QB doesn't seem to comprehend the urgency.



There is one "triangle bug" that I've noticed on some plays in the hurry-up. Essentially about 2% of the time when throwing to the Triangle receiver (PS3) it will throw to the O receiver. I have verified this is NOT a broken controller nor user error. It happens infrequently enough that you don't think about it until you are praying you don't get picked off.



I've seen the computer have the bad handoff and the QB simply stands in the pocket waiting to get sacked, but I haven't experienced that myself. However, I don't run handoffs much out of the gun. At least half my shotgun runs are options.

If you need to rush the QB looking to the sideline after your play call, simply do an audible+original play.

For some reason, this provides max speed between no huddle plays regardless of your aggressiveness settings.
