After David Johnson injured himself in my first preseason game with the Cardinals, I was disheartened and wondered about starting anew with a fantasy draft. Would my previous strategy of stocking up the D and picking quality offensive linemen with picks 6-12ish work as well as usual? Would the CPU draft according to their schemes?
To answer these questions, I've done a little bit of research. Attached is the result of 10 fantasy drafts. They're all offline CFMs, with settings at All-Pro/Simulation. I was the NE Coach for each one, but the first 5 rounds of each draft was simulated and I've compiled draft position. At first, I was going to work out proportions of players picked according to scheme, but after 3 rounds of wondering why only certain players were picked to scheme on the roster pages, it dawned on me that viewing other teams' rosters tells me whether their players match
my scheme, which makes sense for trading etc.
Spreadsheet is attached. I only did the first five rounds because without the companion app, these needed exporting manually and a man's gotta work. Note: anybody drafted outside the top 5 rounds was given a draft position of 400, which means that those at the bottom of the list who were sometimes drafted within the first 5 and sometimes not have ended up with an artificially low ADP - don't take these as gospel!
Enjoy!
