Your most stupid user error

What is one the dumbest things you've done yourself in 14 or any year?

Just had a brain fart that cost me a game thought I'd share

Utah State offensive coordinator. Tied game 24-24 with the ball and just over 4 mins remaining. Get into the opponents 30 yard line with over 2 mins left. Turn on conserve clock mode. Run the ball to the 4 years line perfectly centered with 15 seconds on the clock. The game allowed me to pick another play instead of the sim taking over for the kick. All 3 timeouts left. With 15 seconds I can pick FG and kick the game winner and walk off. . I pick the play... quarter over... forgot I had the clock to conservative and it ran out my clock... threw an INT 3rd okay of overtime. SJSU kicked a FG beat me 27-24. All I could do was shake my head and laugh.

Curious to hear others moments like this.

had one a couple years ago. I was dropping back to throw a pass. had a wr wide open. my eyes told me to hit square my brain told me to hit square but my fingers hit r1 and threw it to the flat where the corner was waiting for a pick six. dont remember the outcome of the game but still remember that play.

That's my usual "stupid error," hitting the wrong receiver button.

I can't think of the "stupidest" one if you will, but I'm sure it has to do with either this or running an option where I pitch the ball right to a defender.

Re: Your most stupid user error

Both are my biggest things to and I drive myself crazy because every pass play I have a 1wr and a 2wr. I know one will be open regardless after playing for so long... and pre snap I think over and over what to press.. and boom I see it but press something wrong. The option one idk why but having my finger on the button is dangerous.... Idk what I do I understand the play and how to read it..and 90 percent I do it right. Then you get one of the most obvious reads where the safety foes straight for the running back doesn't even bother the QB.. and yet I pitch. I think I see the safety going after the RB and I think RB so my instinct is to press the button for the RB.

1. I, too, have done the "chew clock for game-winning field goal leads to accidental overtime" bit.

2. One time, when I was a kid, I spent the second half of the 4th quarter thinking I was up by 2, when in reality I was down by 2. Only when the clock struck 0:00, after three consecutive kneel downs from yours truly, did I realize what the score actually was. Awesome.

3. Last edition I ever owned on PS2, can't remember now what year it was. In a "QB Mode" dynasty (always loved doing those) with North Carolina. Hosting ECU, Pirates have a 3 point lead with six seconds to go (want to say it was 27-24), our ball on the ECU 15, no timeouts. Always been an "Ask Coach" guy. Coach calls a play that I love and know that I can run in 6 seconds, either scoring the game winner or throwing it away to setup the tying field goal. Ball is snapped, I drop back, and the play isn't there. I go to throw it away, and I don't think I'll ever understand what I was thinking or why I did what I did, but instead of firing it out of bounds, saving that second or two on the clock, I floated the most delicately thrown ball there has ever been, out of bounds, so slowly that time expired just before it hit the ground. Game over. I mean, this was the type of ball you would throw to your 3 year old niece when she's first learning to catch. I'll never let myself live that one down.

Imagine the announcers in that game!

I've done the exact same errors. I've now moved to a philosophy of only turning chew clock on if the other team is out of time outs and I have the lead because I do it all too often.

As far as throwing goes, I drop back, make the perfect read, see the defender and know he's covered and hit the right button and throw it anyway. I know it before I even hit the button, so why the hit the button....I don't have an answer... nd then just put my palms up in the air and say, "what the hell are you doing? Why would I do that? I saw the guy there!!!"

Re: Your most stupid user error

I've accidentally audibled a LB to man cover someone on the opposite side instead of QB spy several times. Of course they were in hurry up every time
