In Search Of: Rating Formulas, etc.

Hello, all! I had an idea for a project the other day, where I had my favorite "iteration" of every NBA team in a franchise mode. While plenty of those teams are already available on 2K18, and while some will just take some minor re-tooling (for example, I liked the 2008-2009 Rockets with Ron Artest more than I liked the 07-08 iteration), others are going to take essentially an entire build. (I have the Arenas/Jamison/Butler-led Wizards, for example).

I'd love to make this project as comprehensive and realistic as possible. I know roster creators hold their rating formulas close to their chest, but if any of you will be willing to share please let me know. I'm garbage with math so I get easily overwhelmed at the prospect of testing and number-crunching. BUT I don't mind doing the math with established formulas to create a stunning roster.

I'm actually really stoked you commented on this Mage! I looked at your spreadsheet and I almost used it, but I have some questions. For example, one of the teams I want to use is the 2005-2006 Wizards. In your spreadsheet, especially for teams that far back, there are a lot of "N/A" in the ratings. Not a big deal for things like durability but with mid-range or 3-point shooting, how do you suggest I do this? I also thought about doing what I did for some of my baseball rosters: Find three players who shot close to what, say, Gilbert Arenas did from 3, and then average their rating in-game and apply it to him.

Also, thank you for providing such an expansive database. Your hard work is appreciated even by those who never really comment on here!

Im not trying to sway you from any ideas but I don't use any spreadsheet formulas I give decent scoring ratings to decent players and give them moderate shot attempts within the tendencies and good scoring players higher of both and although they'll never drop the same every game no matter what mine play pretty close to accurate. Starting with the starting five we know who avg more than who so I give them the highest then trickle down the roster. Play against them and edit more from there. Hope it helps. For ex. We know klye korver is wet from beyond the arc but if we set him to too many attempts hell wet you for 30 per.
