Combo system makes a inherently repetitive game.

This combo system.... where to start.

When you build a striking game around a combo system, you are going to eventually have a game where everyone executes the exact same style.

Currently everyone is using the same exact combos, you can go into a fight against someone and you will already know what cheesy 3 piece or 4 piece combo they will be throwing at you over and over and over again.

It doesn't matter if you step back and land a great punch because the combo just keeps coming.

You can do your little "minor sway" now that looks unrealistic and land a straight on someone but unless you met the UFC 3.0 KO system predetermined algorithm you will just eat 2 hooks straight to your face.

There is no incentive to make up your own combos, quite literally because you get KOED as the strikes will come out slower.

You have pigeonholed our creativity as gamers and made us EA UFC 3 combo fighters.

I say this as i still try to play the game everyday and i just keep getting more sad and let down after each session.

At least in UFC 2 if they started most things with a jab - straight they'd be parried and destroyed. Head movement used to be good for counters but now it's only good for purely avoiding strikes and trying to let them waste their stamina a long with a lot of body shots.

This is so true but you made me realize two defensive measures needed.

1. Parries with a small counter window. This happens irl should be in game. With feints and block break they will bring balance and realism

2. Leg kick checks should only happen via low parry. Cant just hold low block. This would make leg kicks important again.

UFC 1's canned KO animations and a strict combination system are supposed to add more replay value to a game?

There is so many combos that just arent used. This is the problem, this along with how block works. Why is there a combo system in place, what is it meant to provide or solve?

It has made single strikes pointless.

its funny because they talked about how they got rid of the combo multiplier

and then made it so that only vulnerability based strikes ever KO people, unless you want to just rock them over and over with combos

I never understood why they made the combos basically preset,it makes the striking feel bland in a sense.You can risk being funky in it,cause as said,those combos will be slower and so risky that its not worth it.They tried for something cool in this game but it didn't come out as good as they hoped
