Backward Head sway and body strikes

What can i do to counter this?

Fought a guy yesterday who used Alistair Overeem, literally all he did was back up, throw the jab to the face and body and mix in knees to the body.

Sounds really simple in principle but when mixed with constant clinching and trying to land body knees it becomes extremely spammy and annoying to fight against.

He would just hold block and back up, sway backwards when the strike was coming.

You try to punch them in the stomach when they sway back and they just plant and throw a uppercut.

Personally, I'd walk him down with jabs (that way you aren't gassing yourself out throwing foward advancing hooks, straights, and uppers) and throw in a body kick/leg kick since back sways don't usually get you out of kick range.

Plus, if he's soley swaying backwards he'll eventually hit the cage and you can make him pay for not circling there.

Leg kicks.

Mix it up when he starts checking, he'll be too confused/preoccupied with your mix up he won't be trying to counter strike.

People are abusers in this game it's disgusting.

My advice dont engage. I stand right in the middle of the octagon and let them come to me.

TBH I hate to say it, but it's a good, smart strategy against Hunto.

Reem has an awful chin and with just a couple big shots you'll have him in trouble with Hunto's power. So he's got to stay away and only throw safe shots, and if you close the distance clinching is smart on his part since reem is a beast there. Sounds like he's using is reach and clinch effectively. I can see why it's frustrating though as Hunto has slow footwork and no reach.
