Hitting is harder this year?

So I have always found hitting in the show to be much harder then pitching but this year I am finding hitting to be even harder it is really frustrating. I don't know what year it was when they started to like slow down pitch speed and upped the timing window but I have found since that if I don't turn pitch speed above default I cant hit any thing has I am early on ever thing and breaking balls fell so slow. With that said right now I cant hit like even more so then past years. I have played games with different camera's. I have tired going into practice mode and also again trying different camera's and I just can seem to hit. I have been playing on DD and after 8 games I am still only at rookie + and I think in 6 of those 8 games I have scored 0-3 runs in each game and the other 2 I think I scored 7 and 4. In the past I found all star to be a little to hard but the level below to be to easy. So the fact I am having this much trouble on just rookie is annoying. I want to get around all star because below CPU just like will not walk you. I don't know if its because I have not found the right camera angle, or if its because I skipped 17 so I am rusty, or if its the dynamic PCI something we didn't have in the past messing me up or what. Or maybe its all 3 of those things. Any one else having a really hard time hitting? I thought most people said hitting was easier this year. I am playing with zone analog by the way.

Re: Hitting is harder this year?

I actually feel the opposite, for a change. I used to have such issues and now I'm enjoying it.

In on All-star with Fish Eye 2 camera...lowered the pitch speed 2 notches, lowered the CPU strike frequency a lot, (I'm way too aggressive) and start each AB with a pitch and spot I'm zoning in on until 2 strikes.

I've had a ton of success in getting walks, XBH, etc. I also strike out when I get out of that plan or try to do too much. I'm enjoying hitting more than ever.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Sounds like most people are opposite of me. I am not striking out much just eating a lot of weak balls. What batting camera are you using?

Re: Hitting is harder this year?

For me hitting has gotten easier the last couple of years with The Show. Seems they are making it easier with each iteration...for me at least.

MLB 09 was brutal...remember very well how my Rtts player got into a slump and just couldn't get out of it. Swung at pitchouts in that game...pitch speed was much faster back then.

Re: Hitting is harder this year?

I may be starting out in the midst of a biblical slump but my power has been non existent, only a handful of dingers. Alot of bad contact as well. Definitely noticed a big difference as I played 17 daily til 18 came out

I'm just curious, do you play with Quick Counts? I usually play with Quick Counts and kind of felt the same way. I was having trouble hitting even on Rookie. But yesterday I accidentally forgot to turn Quick Counts On and played a Franchise Game and it was completely different. I had to move the hitting all the way up to All-Star and was still hitting pretty easily.

Re: Hitting is harder this year?

Running default AS except with pitch speed at 10 and it’s been really hit and miss, no pun intended. Have had a couple of 10-run outbursts and have been shut out.

Honestly it feels a bit weird lately. Seeing almost no power but not striking out at all. I really don’t want to mess with sliders but that’s quite a catch-22.

Re: Hitting is harder this year?

For me, hitting has certainly been different than in years past. Weaker contact, and less power on most days. After messing around, I'm currently playing at Veteran + difficulty with some minor slider adjustments.

I'll go multiple days without a HR, then hit three or four in one game. It doesn't seem to be the wind, as the CPU is pretty consistant all around.

The biggest change for me is that hitting UP with a power swing doesn't automatically add loft to the ball as it always had before. Now, if the pitch is in the middle of the zone, it drives it into the ground. Other than hitting square, I'm uncertain of how to try to drive more high fastballs out of the park. Now, a lot of the time its just a line drive.

What is better than ever though is my ability to take walks. I'll get 3-5 most games now, when in most years before I would be lucky to get that many in a week. In my most recent game, the CPU starter didn't allow a hit in the first three innings, but he walked 3 of the first 10 guys to come to the plate.
