Directional Power Hitting Tips?
(I did search the forum, and found one thread talking about directional power hitting, but most suggestions were to alter pitch speed sliders, but I don't think that has anything to do with my question.)
I use directional hitting, and home runs are severely lacking. I think doubles and triples are fine, I usually get a combined 3-4 a game. But home run-wise, I've hit I think 3 home runs through 30-40 games. Granted, I'm not using the most powerful guys in DD and franchise, so maybe that's the main culprit, but I just wanted to get people's input on what they do when they decide to use a power swing.
Do you use the actual directional at all when using the power swing? For instance, if I've got good righty-power with a left-handed pitcher on the mound, I'll hold the stick up and to the left to try and pull it in the air from the left. If it is righty-righty or lefty-lefty, I'll just push straight up to try and get it in the air. Even using these, it seems that when I do get solid contact with a power swing, it is still a grounder, even though the pitch is in the upper or middle third of the strike zone.
Would I have more luck just not using the actual directions at all and just using power swing and hoping everything goes right?
So far, all 3 of my home runs have been with normal regular swings. So maybe the lack of actual power in the lineup itself is the problem. But I'd still like to know what other people do in terms of using the actual directions with the stick and normal/power swings.
