BYU 14's "Old Guy" Quick Count Sliders for the Show 18

These are only tested on quick count and designed with the more “seasoned” gamer in mind, who may not have the stick skills of yore. The version below is the “final” (Barring patch disruption) update as of 4/9/18 and will be uploaded into the vault under BYU 14’s Old guy QC Sliders V 4.

I am sticking with HOF pitching and All-Star hitting, though I had some fair games on HOF hitting, just did not see the variety I am seeing on All-Star. But for those that are a bit better on the stick and play QC’s the HOF adjustments should provide that.

As always it is about experience for me and these give me the in game experience I am looking for with quick counts. I have had games with these when I have scored 10+ and been shut out, which I think is an indicator of how much more pitch confidence plays into the game this year and can help, or hurt you both hitting and pitching. I have thrown shutouts and had Sonny Gray get shelled for 7 runs in less than 4 innings. Thanks for giving these a try if you play QC and as always feedback is welcome.

Will try these out tonight when I get home. Only problem I’m seeing so far with quick counts is never really getting into good hitters counts. Crazy example was in my fantasy draft franchise over the course of 3 game Cody Bellinger had two strikes against him in 8 out of 11 at bats. Lol

I don't know if it is a placebo, or just dumb luck, but I set strike frequency at 0 and get good amount of 1-1 and 2-1 counts. Dropping the pitcher control and consistency seem to help too, even in unfavorable counts as most pitchers will waste the first pitch when you get 2 strikes. I have worked back from 0-2 counts a few ties to draw walks, which is unheard of for my inpatient a$$ I am currently fanning an average of about 6-7 times a game. A low of 3 and a high of 12 so far.

Anybody had a chance to play a game or two with these yet? Really interested in how they play but I could not get real life done in time tonight to enjoy some show time

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" Quick Count Sliders for the Show 18

First two games of the opening series against the Jays were fairly "normal" including a complete game shutout by Severino in game 2. This one was wild though as Tanaka just didn't have it and 3 errors on the Yankee infield didn't help him, but we came back at the end.

Yankees 11-14-3
Blue Jays 9-9-0

2B - Yanks 1, blue Jays 3
HR - Yanks 3, Blue Jays 2 (Sanchez, Andujar and Hicks, with Sanchez bouncing his off the foul pole)
BB - Yanks 7, Blue Jays 3 (Had a total of 6 my first two games, but will watch this)
K - Yanks 5, Blue Jays 12 (Mainly from the Yankees pen and the lowest I have gotten in 3 games in this franchise, got 3 once in testing)

If I move anything right away I may move pitch speed to 7/7, also all errors were throws that pulled Bird off the bag, 2 by Andujar. This one was an offensive outlier as mentioned, but if this continues I will test both pitch speed and human timing.

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" Quick Count Sliders for the Show 18

First game with 1.5 and the pitch speed uptick is noticeable, but I left it at 6/6 and liked the results. Got around on a couple of fastballs with Judge on favorable counts, but Strikeouts were what I would expect/want from the Yankees (11). Led this one 6-0 going into the 6th, when Montgomery fell apart and the Jays got a 5 spot. They later tied it, then Judge's second blast gave the Yanks the final margin of victory. I thought it would be hard to top 17, but this years game has even more in game variety, absolutely gorgeous. Closed it with a 101 MPH elevated fastball from Chapman to Martin, strike 3!

Yankees 8-13-0
Blue Jays 6-10-1
2B - Yanks 2, Jays 3
HR - Yanks 2, Jays 1
BB - Yanks 4, Jays 6 (Montgomery really lost it after giving up a bomb to Donaldson and why I like human control on 3, no room for error)
K - Yanks 11, Jays 9

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" Quick Count Sliders for the Show 18

Original post updated
V2 Updates 3/31/18 in red - Changed human timing to 4 to make this a more critical piece of hitting and subsequent testing is showing an average of just about 2 hits less per game, which is more in line with where it should be, as well as 1-2 more human strikeouts a game.

Fielder and runner speed was tricky as dropping just 1 caused issues with the other (runners not being aggressive enough on the base paths was big when I only dropped base runner speed, so settle with both at 4 and things are more balanced, without that 'hyper' speed feeling.
