High kick input goes body kick

Ive been struggeling with this also in the beta. Headkicks dont work, instead they go to the liver/body.

If i use a fighter that has a headkick and the input is L1+X or L1+O im finding my distance trough the left stick and i fire the kick. UFC3 is also deppendindg on the LS and the execution of the strike i have to hold LS forward (to get the kick motion move forward). So in the end i input this:

LS forward in enemy direction + L1 + X/O. 80% of this input goes to the body instead to the head. Can someone explain me why?
To mention, the distance isnt the problem and no im not in clinchrange im far away.
Weird is also if i dont touch the LS then it will work.

I dont know if im the only one but trough that i cant people out with highkicks and i get catched a lot with the footcatch=>punch in face=>rock.

I dont think its a console problem but im on PS4.
Like i sayed its about 80% of the execution and thats a lot. I i dont touch the LS it works fine. Same goes for the push kicks (L1+L2+ X/O) and other kicks.

Re: High kick input goes body kick

Oh i see. I am so worried now because i bought a copy standard edition for ps4 version. Anybody has the same issue who playing the full game on ps4?? I never felt it when i played the full game via ea access on xb1. but i agree it would not a console problem.

edit : oh sorry. I was mistaken. My issue was leg kick input gose the body when i played the beta. Not head kick. and it felt way more better on the full game.

Because you are closing distance too much for a head kick to land. Throwing a headkick in tight punching range will redirect to the body.

Re: High kick input goes body kick

U gotta find your kicking range ,your to close for a head kick to land. There's no such thing as a "phone booth" head kick ,your to close.

I noticed this in the beta too but shrugged it off as just being a beta glitch. Disappointed to hear it's "intentional", sure doesn't feel like it.

Re: High kick input goes body kick

If your headkicks are landing to the body your throwing them from way too close or your opponent is closing the distance the second you begin to kick, its not a bug.

Only move LS forward on a headkick if your throwing it from outside of just striking range, if you throw that at punching distance then of course its going to go to the body, you've literally closed off all the distance before kicking. Its not easy to get your foot to someone's head in clinch/elbow range.

Say your throwing a left high kick from southpaw, you can throw out a jab as a rangefinder, throw it from idle so you can load the headkick off it quickly, if the jab lands at full extension your not in optimal kicking range but the kick probably will land as the opponent may move back to avoid the jab.
Otherwise hold LS back when you load the kick off the jab to hop back to kicking distance as you throw the kick, but this will miss if the opponent moves back.

Alternatively, if you have a good kickboxer, hide the high kick behind a straight punch, double attack is the bomb, often the opponent will sway to avoid the straight and leave themselves open to the high kick, or simply use combos that can interchangeablely end with a straight or high kick, and mix the kick in when they begin to leave an opening for it.

The directional striking takes some getting used to, but when you do, you can literally chain together advancing strikes into sidestepping strikes into idle and all various combinations of such.

Edit: I see I spent too long on this and got beaten to the point several times lol.
