Icon5 Best Version of Game for Dynasty

Anything 2003 onwards.

I'm looking for the most realistic, sim experience in Dynasty Mode. This most likely comes down to player progression and recruiting. Not worried about having current rosters, most looking towards the endgame and what game will bring me that fulfilling feeling of building a dynasty in a game that doesn't make it too easy to accomplish such a task.

What version of the game would you recommend?

If you know which of the games are the WORST with player progression, that would help as well. That's the biggest variable I want to not be terrible lol

In my opinion it's 14. Not perfect by any stretch, but still the best overall experience. The recruiting is by far the best in the series.

Re: Best Version of Game for Dynasty

14 is the best for a lot of reasons. The only real downfall I see is the progression, all players progress about the same amount regardless of playing time. Back in the day, benchwarmers usually only went up 1-2 points (unless they had a "breakthrough," which wasa cool touch), and superstars progressed pretty well. They used to have good variation between minimal, average, and breakthrough offseason training. I miss that side of the feature.

On the other hand, 14 has the best of:
-recruiting, simple points system makes it nice and quick
-coaching (contracts, OC/DC spots, upgrades to use, etc)
-custom conferences/schedules to mimic movement you could see IRL
-equipment (TONS of options)
-player models and movement

Re: Best Version of Game for Dynasty

I have to go with 14 too. Read the post entitled something like "Why I still love NCAA 14" - People love the game. It gives you those crazy endings. You think there's no shot and your defense is just going to give up the game winning touchdown, and your 5th string CB, only in there because they've no huddled you to death, makes a pick in the back of the end zone to win the game, that kind of stuff very rarely happened for me in other versions of the game.

With the progression, if you have the time and patience, you can do custom progression, which for me is an absolute must. Yes, my offseason takes me 2-3 weeks because I'm very busy with work and school, but admittedly their progression system was pretty lazy. It's not totally broken, but it's lazy.

Gameplay wise 14 by far.

Recruiting for me it's 12. I just think 12 is more in depth and involves you more in the recruiting process.

As far as player progression and all that I don't know. I don't pay attention to any team except my own, and I don't really pay to much attention on how much someone progresses from one season to the next.

Deegeezy and I are pretty partial to 2011 and 2012 respectively, but that may just be our nostalgia showing through.

Re: Best Version of Game for Dynasty

Only a few issues w/ '14. The overall ratings and "special" 99 Ovr players are widespread. There's no true "this guy is special" unless you're on a team that's full of low rated players and you have 1 superstar.

- Player Progression (depending on how you feel about it)

Players progress rapid. All the 68-70's recruits will at least be high 80's by their senior season by riding the bench and getting no PT. Any 77+ recruit will most likely end up 99 ovr. Personally I hate that. How many times has the #1 recruit in his position in the country fizzled out in college? It happens. But not in NCAA. A dude can get burnt, ran over, pancaked all season long w/o doing anything correctly for 3 yrs and he still becomes Terrell Suggs.

Especially bad w/ other teams. Can almost guarantee your 'record breaking rusher' in Dynasty mode will come from Navy, Army, Air Force. They always end up w/ running backs or QB's that rush 2000+ yds like it's nothing. I think some Navy back who was low 90's ovr just rushed for 25 TD and 2500 yds in mine.

You think, "damn, that dude was balling". But then next yr his backup does the same crap.

and same applies to passing. Clemson QB just went 56-0 on TD / INT ratio. 99 Ovr. First yr starting SR never threw a pass as a Jr, So, or Fr. 99 ovr lol.

Personally I'm not a fan of that stuff in sim but NCAA '14 probably provides best Dynasty of the NCAA series. they really should have a slider setting to adjust player progression in dynasty mode.

There's also a few cosmetic issues w/ coaching stats/history and stuff I won't really point out because if you don't notice it it doesn't bother you.
