Autosave trustworthiness?

I'm rocking my 32nd expansion team (the Sault Ste. Marie Fur Trappers), and I completely botched the 2018 draft. I'm halfway through the draft right now. I was wondering if I close the game and reopen if I'll be at the draft again? Or the last time I manually saved? Which I believe was when I started the franchise.

I've been burned by the NHL series's autosave feature before. Does anyone know how it works in this year's edition?

Also, for future knowledge when doing the 32nd expansion team mode, can you use custom rosters?

No custom rosters in Expansion mode thats one of the reasons i don play Expansion mode cause u cant use custom rosters..
