Real FG% vs. User Timing

What are the pros and cons of each? Do your inputs matter on Real FG%? Do ratings factor at all on User Timing?

Re: Real FG% vs. User Timing

In general, both use player attributes and ratings. These include wide open, contested, fading away etc.

On Realfg%, timing the shot release doesn't matter. It always uses the exact player rating for the situations described above.

On Timing, they get slightly altered and boosted or decreased based on if you are late or early etc. It works well and percentages seem to add up realistically. To me it gives just enough of user skill input to make it fun, while staying realistic.

In my experience, only "excellent" timing and wide open (which is hard to do regularly) means a make every time.

Re: Real FG% vs. User Timing

I have used Real FG% since it was introduced years back but I may try timing.

I feel like I miss too many open threes with good shooters and this may not have anything to do with this manner but I rarely see swishes on Real FG% (from the field or FT line). Damn near every make dances on the rim or is a generous bounce. Don't know if timing will help with that.

Re: Real FG% vs. User Timing

I have used real FG% for years because I've always been more about the reality of a franchised mode than trying to master releases and timing.

Real FG% is strictly based on how a shooter's ratings are from each area. Timing means nothing.

The complaint I've heard (which may or may not be true, everyone has an opinion) is using real FG% prevents your user player from ever getting really hot.

Re: Real FG% vs. User Timing

So does real FG% use any aspect of the user timing the shot? I've never used it. I see why people do, but I kind of like the aspect of the outcome of the shot being determined by how well I time and release the shot

I may give real FG% a shot though and see how it compares

Re: Real FG% vs. User Timing

I always felt like I was getting cheated by using Real FG% for some reason.

I'm sure I wasn't, just felt that way to me. Like in the back of my mind after I missed a wide open shot I'd say "Real FG% screwed me there!"

I use Real FG% and I feel the same way lol...but I also like for player ratings and attributes to be a bigger deciding factor than release timing mainly because I only play offline vs. the cpu. Timing is not for me because I hate to know if I made a shot as soon as I release it takes away from my SIM experience.

Although as a player there are definitely times when you know the ball is going in as soon as it leaves your fingers.
