Commentary Updates?

I played a game with the new OKC today. It was great that 2k was so quick to update after the trade. However, I noticed that the commentary is now very outdated when talking about the team and off-season moves.

They made several references to Paul George going to OKC and it now being a two superstar team, but didn’t reference Melo at all. It’s like he wasn’t even on the team.

Does anyone know if 2k will be updating commentary as the season moves on to account for these things? Or at the very least before the season starts for any other moves?

If I was ever gonna steal something from a game like Madden and put it in 2K, it'd be that, love going in there and hearing about the game that happened in real life the week before. I think 2K would do it too, but it's tough to get guys like Harlan and all the commentators back in the studio once the season starts.

I'm sure there are plenty of ways to accomplish what OP is asking for without flying Kevin Harlan and other individuals to a specific studio to record new lines....

I guess it depends on who is calling the game. I remember hearing someone commenting on the blockbuster trade between Kyrie and IT, which only happened a couple of weeks before game was released. As far as for Carmelo, IIRC Greg Anthony mentioned the past tough offseason Melo had to go through and he is happy to see him finally ends up with "this team". I think that's some good touch.

I'm guessing that they added those lines in whenever the cutoff was suspecting that Melo would be moved. It would be amazing if they were able to take stances like this though and have them apply broadly. Say you're in ML, MC or MGM and player a demands a trade. Well now there's commentary in there that references that and it's completely organic. That's probably some next console generation stuff...

That's of limited use though, most people play MyLeague or MyCareer where stories about trades/scores/etc during the real NBA regular season mostly won't be true - that would only be for Play Now/NBA Today. Not sure I see the point in updates like that outside PN.

I'm playing right now and they're referencing the trade of Carmelo Anthony to the OKC. They're talking about how they got him for basically nothing, how he'll be great with Paul George and Russell Westbrook and his scoring ability. It's not as much commentary as they usually have for a player like Carmelo Anthony, but it's something.

Maybe this means they will be updating throughout the year.
