Street Pick-Up Games - Why it's a Mess ? A solution Offer to the Problem

I've enjoyed the game so far but these live Street pick-up games are a pain in the back. I can tell like at least 50 % of the people who play there do not know or do not wish to play "basketball" which ruins the whole experience.

We all know what's going on there:

Too many selfish plays
Too many unnecessary shots
Too many turnovers
Too many guys not pressing the pass button even once
Not executing any organized play at all
Too many attempted threes

I have a suggestion:

Please record the team-mate grade for every single game and display the average team-mate grade for every player whenever you are in a lobby or in a game screen. Also please allow players to filter out others who are low in team-mate rating.

For ex: I would like to play a pick-up game with a roster full of team-mate grade overall 80 or over 80.

That would be a solution to find good pick-up games.

Good players who play the game the right way should be rewarded not just with coins or points but also being in selective groups to play these pick-up games with players who play the game the right way as well.

Otherwise it will continue to be a mess

Re: Street Pick-Up Games - Why it's a Mess ?

I agree something should be done to punish those players like guys who get called 8 times in one game for staying in the key 3 seconds! But recording teammate grade won't fix it, as a PG my main interest is hitting an open man to take a shot or getting past my man to drive to the basket and/or then dish it off. The problem is that some games I might only touch the ball twice because of teammates standing in front of the inbound pass, not passing and my guy being too short to rebound. I might finish a game with a 75 testing at best stubbly because I don't get a chance to get a higher grade.

I box out and I guard well but it's not enough to get into the 80's. I know EA can't afford to put off consumers who could just buy 2k instead and maybe on full release, these guys won't even buy the game because there is no way they can be enjoying it. Hopefully it's just a case of free demo, I'm gonna throw it on and just be a bollox.

The pass button doesn't exist for who ever plays the point. Guess they forgot the purpose of a PG. I can't believe how bad it is out there.

This happens because they are standing there, wide open, while a Westbrook-wannabe dribbles all over the court trying to be a hero and completely ignores open teammates. So, as a matter of protest, we cause the penalty on purpose, to wake him up.

Street Pick-Up Games - Why it's a Mess ?

We may not be "influenced" by the title as it suggests. I find the online game fun and LIVE is consistent with gameplay immersion.

Now beyond that, gaming experience with non-CPU players, that's another story. I already said not everyone online knows set plays and effective defense. But it won't sway me from this online experience. It's fun!

There are many, many ball hogs and I'll roll along. Rebounds, a few stoppage, blocks, defense -- that's where we can "compensate" when paired with trigger happy, hand 🤚 in your face shooters.

Would have been good if it goes in. Most of those guarded and contested shots are just waste of possessions.

I can't imagine playing as a guard online...has to be frustrating..

As a center, I actually enjoy rebounding, defending the rim, getting putbacks....so even though things like post up opportunities and passes are few and far between...I can still enjoy myself unless guys are just TOTALLY brain dead, lol

I maxed out my player who I created similar to my build in real life- 6 ft tall, 225 LBS PG with playmaker abilities.

I always pass the ball and look for open teammates rather than shoot but in every team that i've been on, I had at least 2 guys who either spammed useless threes or drove to the basket by sprinting to the rim without looking who's open who's not.

That experience led me to create another player with another account where I created a post-anchor center. As you pointed out even when these guards mess up the gameplay, I enjoy rebounding, cleaning the messes on the offensive boards, guarding the rim. Occasionally I get passes from guards when i'm available under the rim but sometimes they miss these passes and I get caught up in 3 second rule.

Have to just find more like gamers to run with. An OS group or something so that we can weed out the lower basketball IQ clowns.
