So I'm in the season and can resign players, but the problem I'm running into is it's not really a negotiation. The fair offer is the BOTTOM they will accept. Trying to find any savings, even a small amount seems impossible. Am I missing something here?

Yeah 60 bucks. Glad they were honest about the minor franchise improvements so I wasn't tempted to buy it.

You are not missing anything. There is not a lot that influences a re-signing. There is a coach upgrade that you can buy with XP that makes it a little easier to get them to accept the fair offer.

You might be able to change the number of years by increasing the signing bonus or salary (while reducing the other) - not sure if that this will save you money but might limit your exposure of a big contract.

I've also noticed that if you improve a player before you re-sign them - they will want more money based on their new overall rating. I usually just accumulate XP until I resign them.

Yeah, there's no give or take. That's a product of more development time going toward other modes like MUT, unfortunately.
