NBA 2K18 Classic Roster Planning Thread

So... with the availability of a fairly enormous number of players from All Time teams, it looks like a great year for NBA 2K roster creators. I'm hoping we can use this thread to organize roster making, avoid overlap, and so on.

I'm also hoping to get some input on what to do this year. I did a late 70s roster two years ago and 1996 last year. This season, I am leaning toward doing some kind of alternate history roster - like an entire 1984 season roster based on the idea that Portland won the coin flip and picked Hakeem Olajuwon that year. But if anyone has any suggestions or seasons/concepts you'd really like to see, post them here!

IN

I'm down to help. I'm already posting skeletons for season specific rosters using the players we have in the game now.

Awesome! As I said, sometime in the 1984 region is my first choice, although given some of the players who will be available this year the idea of trying something REALLY early - like a late 60s roster - is awfully tempting.

Great to see people starting early! Here is a a quick list I made a while back of rosters and draft classes for PS4 on 2k14-17. The ones that show a year and no other details have nothing on PS4.

Have you guys heard if ages will be editable on the all-time teams and classic teams this year? It may not be a big issue, since I assume the all-time teams will have the legends in their prime…but it’s still nice to have.

I must say..I read the list of players on those teams and I almost feinted! It’s an amazing addition! Now as long as something silly doesn’t happen..like you can’t plug them into MyLeague…this will be the best version of the game for classic rosters ever.

Don't know about others, but I think a much more interesting alternative 1984 roster would be if the Rockets/Blazers deal (Ralph Sampson for Clyde Drexler and 2nd overall pick) went through. It was a real thing and we would've seen a crazy big 3 of Jordan/Hakeem/Drexler

Re: NBA 2K18 Classic Roster Planning Thread

I'm not a great roster maker and (at least in years past) can't really create good caps, but what I can do is compile lists lol. I 'm hoping to do an all-time fantasy draft roster this year, but to do that we need to remove the duplicate legends and fill in their spots on the teams with the dupes. So, to help facilitate that process, I've created a spreadsheet that has several tabs. If any roster editors/cap creators out there want to use it feel free to and let me know what else I can do to help this process in 2K18.

Spreadsheet Tabs:

1.) All Players - All of the players on the default all-time roster
2.) No Duplicates - All of the unique players on the all-time roster (keeping the highest overall version of each duplicate player)
3.) Players to Remove - All of the duplicate players in the default roster that need to be removed for a fantasy draft/no dupes roster (the lower overall versions)
4.) Players to Add - A list of missing legends/players to fill out unique rosters for each team. Some of these guys are glaring omissions like Barkley, Miller, Sheed, etc. while others are fringe at best. I just wanted to make sure we could get enough players to fill out 15 unique for each team. Not all of these guys need to be included, it's more for reference of who you might include.
5.) Team Totals Before - How many unique players each team has after removing the dupes.
6.) Team Totals After - How many "Players to Add" are on the list for each team, how many they need added, and the difference between the two.
