TGC2 PS Plus needed?

I would just like some clarification from anyone who can help. Here are the details:

I DO NOT have PS Plus but I have connection to the internet to my PS4.

I have played the TGC1 and have enjoyed playing against Ghosts and playing user created courses/tournaments/tours.

If I purchase the TGC2 will I be able to have a similar experience to what I currently have in TGC1? Simply, is PS Plus required to play user created courses?

Also, what are the benefits of having PS Plus for TGC2?

You do not need PS Plus to play TGC2 at all. It works the same way as the first one. Not really sure what having a PS Plus account gets you in this game but someone else might know.
