Directional/Classic or MoM sliders

I decided to go ahead and post my sliders. A big shout out to Nomo for his extensive play-testing which was a big influence. He is responsible for most of the information I used that wasn't me playing and also identifying certain issues such as default BABIP being too low, LD% too low, etc. Nomo, you are the slider king in my book and have been for a few years. Please keep in mind that this could be considered a starting point or a base to leap from as things change due to many variables including differences in how you play and how I play.

I am just posting the sliders as playing with a clean screen and stuff is all user preference.

I also prefer directional hitting most of the time. Skills ratings take much more precedent whereas zone minimizes contact ratings and makes power ratings much more important amongst other things it skews. Both are realistic in their own ways but I know the first thing I'd do if I played zone would be to increase the difficulty on my hitting.

Some final notes, these were done using directional hitting and classic pitching and not quick-counts. I don't use quick counts and have no idea how they affect the game. Also, difficulty levels are an important thing. I do not recommend using these sliders if you are not comfortable playing these difficulty levels. However, the error sliders are perfect for any level.

These sliders are a base and it changes based on your own expectations, experiences, skill levels, and who knows what else. This is where I am and I'm very happy. You might find more happiness with other sliders if you have different expectations. Me, I wanted to get as close to real life as possible in stats and gameplay.

Hitting: All-Star difficulty level with Directional hitting
Pitching: Hall of Fame with Classic
Dynamic Difficulty Sensitivity 0
Human Contact 6 (BABIP too low if you go lower)
Human Power 6 (4 gets too few doubles, low wind keeps HR's from inflating)
Human Timing 4
Stride Difficulty 5 (doesn't matter, dead slider)
Human Foul Frequency 3 (accurate %)
Human Solid Hits 6 (BABIP increaser and gets closer to accurate % of line drives - game gives too many flies)
Human Starter Stamina 6
Human Reliever Stamina 6
Human Pitcher Control 5
Human Pitcher Consistency 4 (% of walks based on this)
CPU Contact 6 (these are all the same as HUM)
CPU Power 6
CPU Timing 4 (CPU needed a bit more K's and this gives it to them)
CPU Foul Frequency 3
CPU Solid Hits 6
CPU Starter Stamina 6
CPU Reliever Stamina 6
CPU Pitcher Control 5
CPU Pitcher Consistency 4
CPU Strike Frequency 6
CPU Manager Hook 3 (increase to 7 mid-game once they go to pen as long as it is not a long reliever)
CPU Pickoffs 5
Fastball Pitch Speed 5
Off speed Pitch Speed 6
Fielding Errors Infield 8 (error #'s derived from Nomo who did extensive testing of these)
Fielding Errors Outfield 5
Throwing Errors Infield 7
Throwing Errors Outfield 8
Fielder Run Speed 3 (OF is most correct here, affects doubles and flairs, ball hangs too long on flies but can't really fix that)

Fielder Reaction 5
Fielder Arm Strength Infield 5
Fielder Arm Strength Outfield 5
Baserunner Speed 5
Baserunner Steal Ability 5
Baserunner Steal Frequency 5
Wind 3 (Wind too high makes too many dingers)
Injuries 9

Re: Directional/Classic or MoM sliders

Thanks for posting these. Combining Armors and Nomos knowledge of the game as a base seems like a great idea for a slider set. You have obviously done lots of research when putting these together. I'm going to give them a run for a few games at least.

Let me know how it goes. I might have to take control to 3 but want to give it more time.

I'm going to use them with justmuncs Fictional 17 which I think has pitcher control ratings a bit lower than OFSM so I could be in for some wild games

Despite my fears when using justmunc Fictional 17 everything has been going well with couple of games I have used the sliders so far.

The hitting sliders played beautifully and I'm pleasantly surprised dropping the timing to 4 has actually bought more offense and hit variety than at 5. Maybe I was getting too many "good hits" straight at fielders when I was on 5. This combined with solid hits at 6 has seemed to increase my doubles as well.

The pitching sliders worked well even with control at 2. I think raising the strike frequency to 6 was a bit of magic because pitchers aren't getting behind in the count and panicking. The CPU actually felt more "human" and pitched the way I like to. However I do need to see the bottom of the rotation to get more of an idea.

The error/fielding/baserunner combination is as good as I've used all year and believe me I've tried them all! Everything is there and in good order. Errors, dropped catches, missed throws, close plays at first, guys running the base paths properly, stolen bases, bloopers dropping fair and balls going over fielders heads.

All in all great job with these and even though it is early days I can see myself sticking with them going forward. Thanks for taking the time to share them.

Re: Directional/Classic or MoM sliders

Looks nice. I'll have to give these a try. Steal @6 I think is perfect in my MoM and in my play series. I don't believe it has anything to do with pitch speed. Pitch speed is a visual aid only. It doesn't effect the game in any other form.

Re: Directional/Classic or MoM sliders

I have had a hard time getting this year's game to play how I want for some reason . I am very picky on how realistic the stats are I guess . Anyway these are the best sliders for me for sure !! Thanks and great job of blending it together from 2 of the best slider makers out there .works perfectly for me

Re: Directional/Classic or MoM sliders

I am glad these sliders are helping someone! Thanks for the kind words. After 1.09, I have dropped power back to 5 and may do the same with contact. I got in a few games today and it really has changed. I had to be sure since I am playing in Colorado but I am pretty convinced now.

Re: Directional/Classic or MoM sliders

Good call on the lowering the contact and power. Have you got any more thoughts on raising the Hum/CPU control from 2 to 3. I'm using your sliders with my OFSM season and Default sliders with my Fictional franchise. I have two thoughts on raising it. Firstly when using Directional/Classic if we really want ratings to shine control at 2 tends to nerf the really goods pitchers a fair bit. Secondly when playing my Fictional franchise with Default Hum/CPU Default control 5 I find both myself and the CPU chase pitches a lot more often.
