New Gameplay Clips Released

EA Sports invited quite a few YouTubers and media outlets to their NBA Live 18 event in New York last week. The embargo was lifted today as some video footage and an interview from SLAM Online with Producer, Mike Mahar are now available.

For the most part, each video shows the same gameplay footage. Unfortunately, none of them saw any raw 5 on 5 footage. It also sounds as if we will hear more about a new feature the team calls "The One", during EA Play later this week.

Check out the videos below, along with the interview (some snippets below), and post your thoughts.

SLAM: What can we expect to see with NBA Live 18?

Mike Mahar: We’ve taken our time to really focus on two key aspects of the game. One is our core gameplay and control, animations, fluidity, a lot of control around the rim, contact and physicality. A lot of the player nuances and customs that the players have in the game. The other aspect we took a lot of time to focus on is The One, which is our new way to play. It’s all about you and your path through the NBA and the streets. We’re really excited to show a little sneak peak of that. We think it’s a pretty big differentiator between what we’re offering as a player experience and what other sports games have.

SLAM: What was different in developing the game this time around?

MM: There’s a lot of significant differences. We really took some time to rebuild our core, some of our core gameplay technologies. We took a lot of time to redesign our modes so we can build around The One. Those are really the two areas what was different about our development plan was. We had to really start from scratch in both of those areas in order to get where we are now.

Re: New Gameplay Clips Released

If this is legit, looks solid. I like the celebrations (but I hope they're not at inopportune times, like what happens in 2K).

I noticed the Drew League getting some love -- would like to see that in a game.

The body types and body modeling, particularly the ankle/leg areas, look like they are sufficiently different. Visually, there's a definite "pop" to me, which I also appreciate ... face animations seem stiff/robotic like, but that's not too big a deal breaker.

As with anything, gameplay will be the deciding factor, but the video linked looks like a much improved version of the last Live we saw. That's progress and that's good.

I like what I'm seeing so far.

These clips look much better than the other clips we've seen, but I'm still waiting to see the post game and some hands on gameplay. I love playing with a center, so that's most important to me.

Man....one thing EA can nail is the arena's...damn.

Even the street/drew league courts look amazing.

And yes, these clips look way better than last weeks.

Lastly, why do the pacers have to clown the raptors like that ?

As expected, graphics look great. I'll wait for some unedited 5vs5 gameplay, I don't take these highlight clips too seriously until I actually see real gameplay.

Short highlight clips have been there for over a decade. I'll wait to see the real thing.

Re: New Gameplay Clips Released

That small clip looked much better than the trailer. Now I need to know is which one is the real Live 18, the trailer, this clip, or a little bit of both. Can't wait for EA Play!!!
