Franchise Draft: Too many A prospects

Anyone else noticing this problem. Just did 3 test seasons where it's anywhere between 12 and 14 A potential prospects go in the first round. I thought they had it perfect last year with their usual 6-8 then a few after the first round. Is this something that can be fixed via patch?

For online Franchise its the exact opposite. Theres maybe 7-8 in the entire draft. Its pretty dumb. We have even had 2 drafts that have only had 3 rounds. Also, theres an abundance of pitchers. Had a draft that had 10 position players total.

Re: Franchise Draft: Too many A prospects

I just checked the drafted players in my franchise.

9 Starting pitchers
1 Closer
3 First basemen
2 Left Fielders
1 Right Fielder

So that's 16 total A prospects. Not exactly sure this is an issue. But I'm not an expert on getting deep into franchise. Does this cause problems?

We can always edit it potential.

Also, some of these A potential guys may be low 90's. Not everyone will turn into a 95+ dude, some may not reach that potential or even drop down to B potentials.

Yeah just seeing how many A prospects there are isnt best way to look at it.. Some could be 22 coming in at 45 OVR and never reach that POT. Some will struggle and drop down to a B. Some B POT guys could go up to A. The only thing that really matters is how many 90+ OVR players there 5/10/15 years into a franchise compared to how many there were when starting.

Question for the OP....are you discovering prospects with your scouts? The more you discover, the more A prospects will show up. I do no discovering for this exact reason and as a result, there are on average about 8 A prospects.

Did not know that, interesting. I always have my scouting set to auto but this is good to know. I kind of love having the draft be a crapshoot(much like it is in real life) and drafting a toolsy player who looks like a stud and have him end up being a c potential after you've finished the draft.

Scouts play a huge part in this. If they have high discovery ratings and high pitcher/position ratings, they will create more A prospects. The game does not have a pool of players for draft - it literally creates them. I do use discovery so I don't end up with a batch of slow CF for instance but you have to not overdo it. A day or two discovering good defensive SS's and power hitting 1B is all you need. Catchers and pitchers take an extra couple of days. Don't discover too many or you get too many good ones ready to step in immediately and undrafted prospects that linger from year to year.
