The Spirit of Detroit | Detroit Pistons MyLeague

Detroit Pistons
___

I have decided to start a MyLeague experience based around Detroit Pistons and take you with me on this fabulous journey. I have chosen Pistons due to the fact that the team has plenty of interesting history and hopefully an interesting future. The team has seen their fair share of NBA titles and I plan on building this team to contend once again. In my personal opinion the team is in a rather horrible situation and currently the supposed franchise centerpiece in Andre Drummond is a very questionable leader. Many say that he has lost the will to play and there is no more love for basketball, but I will give him a chance, because in the NBA 2k he is rated rather well. I am most intrigued about players like Tobias Harris, KCP and Stanley Johnson. Unfortunately, one of them hasn't panned out to the quality that was expected from him, but I still enjoy him as a young and upcoming basketball player. I plan on keeping the experience realistic and will assume control of all 30 teams. I will also be responsible for making trades, signing free agents and overall roster appearance for all 30 teams. I will also be managing staff for the sake of Pop staying in Spurs (and other similar scenarios).
Platform: NBA 2k17 (PC)
Difficulty: All Star
Sliders: Custom Simulation Type
Roster: 2k Official Roster w/ tweaks (pre-Playoff)
Quarter Length: 12 min / 12 min
Starting Season: 2016 - 2017
Season Length: 82 games
Playoff Format: 7 / 7 / 7 / 7
Draft Classes: Realistic 2017 - 2019, Fictional 2020 - ...
I will try my best to keep this going and hopefully provide a good read for some of the OS Dynasty dwellers. I am open to feedback and will be looking for any trade ideas that can be mustered up for other teams. Personally, I won't be playing every game and most of the time I will be simulating the games. I will play all of the play-off games (or at least most of them). I will also try my best to create an interesting atmosphere in a sense that some players might suddenly emerge as great for longer or shorter spans of the season (a la Linsanity, Jimmertime etc.) and hopefully that will create some enjoyable story lines.

Leave your print in the NBA
To make this a little bit more interactive I am open to add some of you into the mix of NBA via draft class or D-League call ups (Free Agency). Please PM me if you are interested with the filled out application that can be found below.
Code:
Full Name:

I do reserve the right to include or not include your player and tweak him to my liking if I see it fit. Please, don't expect to see John Simmons-esque story for every player, but do not be discouraged as it might happen, if you create a really interesting and in depth player.

Pistons ready to go to work on top of the best season since 07-08
September 23, 2016 | by NBA News
__________________________________________________
Last season Detroit made large strides making a run for the playoffs and securing their first winning season since the 2007-08 NBA Season, when they went 59-23. This happened due to the collective effort from the teams' young core led by Andre Drummond who improved his scoring and rebounding to a star level.

Large questions remain in Drummond's ability to shoot free throws and for now his game further away from the rim is limited, but he is not afraid to put the ball on the floor and drive to the rack.

Steve Van Gundy, who assumed the role of Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations and was crucial to the success of the team said:
"This idea that I'm doing both jobs is in most ways not true."
Van Gundy said one concern with having the same person in charge of coaching and the front office is that a coach can have a tendency to overreact - but he says current General Manager Jeff Bower acts as a check against that.

If Drummond can continue his climb to superstar levels and elevate his game, many believe that under Van Gundy's watchful eye this young team can make a deeper play off push.

Detroit Pistons reveal their depth chart for 2016-17 season
October 02, 2016 | by Hang Time

Detroit Pistons have revealed their potential depth chart for the upcoming NBA season and it looks promising.

Detroit Pistons Depth Chart - 2016-17
STARTER2ND3RD4TH
PGReggie JacksonIsh SmithBeno Udrih
SGKentavious Caldwell-PopeMichael GbinijeDarrun Hilliard
SFTobias HarrisMarcus MorrisStanley JohnsonReggie Bullock
PFJon LeuerAron Baynes
CAndre DrummondBoban MarjanovicHenry Ellenson

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (23) enters the last year of his contract and many believe that Detroit will have to offer him a max contract. It is extremely unlikely he will land elsewhere, as Stan Van Gundy has referred to the young sharpshooter as a cornerstone of the organization.

Other than that, Detroit has to work on some additional depth for Power Forward position and many fans on the internet have expressed their thoughts and pointed out that Tobias Harris could slide down to power forward, as his size and athleticism allows for that. We have yet to hear Van Gundy mention anything of sorts and the released depth chart certainly speaks against it.

Explosive point guard Reggie Jackson will lead the team and as far as we think - both as a floor general and as a scorer. Some anonymous sources in Pistons medical staff state that Jackson fell into knee issues during off season training camp, however front office of Detroit denies that and classifies it as a rumor.

And to compliment Reggie's explosiveness we have the undisputed leader of the team in Andre Drummond, who managed to improve nearly all of his statistical columns last season and many say that this will be the year he makes the leap from stars to super stars. However, first he has to improve on some of the key issues, such as mid range and free throw shooting, as well as improve his post move selection.

We believe Detroit is the team to watch this season as they can make some serious strides towards contending in the eastern conference.

Last year at the Palace
15 October, 2016 | by Jack Cobert
With the NBA season rapidly approaching and being only 10 days away, it is a good thing to remember that the hometown Pistons will soon move to the Little Caesars Arena. Of course there hasn't been the official announcement of such decision yet, however there are many confirmed sources stating that the move is as close to the official as it can be.

It is believed that Pistons will announce their move in an official press conference scheduled for November and confirm the Little Caesars Arena as the team's home stadium beginning in the 2017-18 season, according to The Detroit News.

The move back into Detroit city limits will end a 30-year stay at the Palace of Auburn Hills, which was located north of downtown Detroit. Little Caesars Arena is being built as the home arena of Red Wings (NHL), but the Pistons have made a deal with Olympia Entertainment, the company in charge of the stadium's development, to join as well.

All major Detroit teams are now located within Detroit city limits. The Pistons are planning to build a practice facility in the same district as the stadium.

The future of the Palace is up in the air. The stadium has been home to many famous moments, from the Bad Boys to the 2004 title. Of course, the Malice in the Palace might be its most infamous moment, and one the team will be happy moving on from.

Re: The Spirit of Detroit | Detroit Pistons MyLeague

Following. I like the Pistons (even though I was rooting for that 2004 Lakers team, just for the fact that I wanted Karl Malone and Gary Payton to get their rings).

Drummond is a good player. I feel Jackson is an overpay at his position (he's really an undersized SG in my mind, not a point). Harris is underrated. The youth on the team is intriguing.

The Pistons also released a new logo to be used for the 2017-18 season. Any plans on updating their uniforms?

Thanks trekfan!

I agree on Jackson, I don't really like him that much either. Even with the new salary amounts his contract is hardly justified.

Yes, I do enjoy the new logo of Pistons, but I have a large issue with 2k how they handle that type of rebrands. Each logo has a 3d effect in menus and pre-game graphics, if you change the logo of the team it becomes 2d and you have to create a 3d one yourself. Blasphemous! But I might do some sort of a rebrand along the way.

^ I know, that really bugs me too.

What I've done to get around that is to not alter the primary logo at all in Team Branding -- leave that screen alone (and the arena too) and just focus on the uniforms. The uniform doesn't necessarily need to reflect the primary logo -- look at the Heat or the Magic, both feature large primary logos that show up as little logos on the uniforms, not across the chest (in some cases, they don't show up at all).

So I just rebrand the uniforms and that's it. Note, even if you do that and change nothing about the Team Brand, if you attempt to upload the design and then redownload it to that team (or that team in another MyLeague file), it'll still 2D the logo and make the announcers/TNT crew call you by 'City Name' and not your actual team name.

In essence, you'll have to rebrand without the use of the servers every time to avoid the 2D effect.
