I am thinking of grabbing a used copy of 2k17 since I returned mine months ago. I don't have too much interest in the current teams but was curious if there are any great retro season rosters that might make it worth grabbing again. I am a huge fan of 80's and 90's NBA.

Definitely a lot of them, especially on PS4 it seems.
I'll give you a few names, they'll be PSN IDs cause I'm not sure about their usernames on OS:
crazyh16 has a mid 80's roster (either 85/86 or 84/85), ferrfs has a great 95-96 roster and draft class, and a simple search for the season you're interested in gives a lot of results
