Cycloniac's TrueSim MLB 17 Sliders

Cycloniac's TrueSim MLB 17 Sliders

Another baseball season is underway, so I've been tweaking and testing to find the right mix of sliders. As always, realism is the goal.

Use this to post your box scores:

Here is what I am using right now. Notes to follow.

Values are the same for both HUM and CPU unless otherwise noted.

Starter Stamina: 7 (10 during simulated games)
Reliever Stamina: 4

Throwing Errors Outfield: 7
Fielder Run Speed: 2

Fielder Arm Strength Infield: 5
Fielder Arm Strength Outfield: 4
Baserunner Speed: 6
Baserunner Steal Ability: 5
Baserunner Steal Frequency: 10

Trade Frequency:
April & May: 1
June-July 15th: 3
July 15th-July 31st: Max
Rest of Season: 5
Offseason & Spring Training: 6

Notes
-I use quick counts every game for improved BBs, Ks and count variety.
-I play every game in manager mode, which is an extremely underrated feature.

-I use a version of the OSFM v1.5 (default contracts. 4/29 update) roster by nyfan with the following tweaks:
1. Pitch edits for notable starters and closers
2. Speed and fielding edits by Jross22
3. Pitching role edits -- switched numerous players from SPs to RPs who project to come out of the pen, or currently come out of the pen primarily.
4. Stamina updates for a lot of B and A potential prospects, since stamina does not progress in franchse mode.

Roster in Vault as TrueSim 17

I've been looking for a good set aimed at being used for quick counts. I see you have baserunner speed bumped up and solid hits up and power down stood out too. What were your goals for this set what were you trying to achieve?

Out of the gate, I noticed that a lot of people were complaining about the distribution between singles, XBHs and HRs. So, I tried to think about the difference between what power affects and what solid hits afects.

Power as in the distance the ball travels, and solid hits as affecting the balance between line drives and ground balls/fly balls.

What I noticed was that with power lowered and solid hits raised, hit variety was better and HRs were at a realistic clip.

I raised baserunner speed firstly to showcase SB threats -- I didn't find the AI was aggressive enough in stolen base situations.

My main focus of the set was replicating MLB averages in:
-Runs
-Hits
-Errors
-Doubles
-Tripples
-Stolen Bases
-Batting Average

I also worked on increasing swing and miss percentages, kept an eye on strike percentages and decreased foul ball percentages.

Went up against a red hot A's team that has won 7 of their last 9. Close early, Khrs Davis hit a three run shot that gave Oakland their 6-3 lead late.

Re: Cycloniac's TrueSim MLB 17 Sliders

Just completed a sweep of the Rangers, at home. Rebounding after a tough stretch. Pineda was dealing. Was on his way to a shutout but ran into some trouble in the 6th.

Dropped stealing ability from 9 to 8, giving that a go for a bit.
