Difficulty changes.

I've played The Show since MLB 08. And every year I've hit on All-Star and pitched on Hall of Fame. However, this year for the first time I think I may need bump up my hitting difficult.

However, I'm curious. What exactly changes when you move from All-Star to Hall of Fam? I really like the ball to strike ratios I get on All-Star and where the CPU misses. I don't want much to change to be honest, hitting wise but I feel like I might need a bit more of a challenge.

Re: Difficulty changes.

Increasing hitting difficulty you'll see a change in pitch speed and movement from the AI's pitches

in the same boat, but in the veteran to all star transition. Not sure if i should lower hitting sliders or make the jump. Liking the ball to strike ratio and feel ive achieved on Vet so far.

I don't think this is correct. Are you sure about this? The problem I've always had with some sports games is that raising the difficulty doesn't change anything but player attributes. Essentially increasing the CPU players and decreasing yours.

The best example was in Madden back in the day (it may be different now). Used to when you moved up, the CPU players just got rating boosts. Which I hated. A guy with 75 speed would be able to track down a guy with 90 speed. It was dumb. I always worry the same thing will happen when I go from awl-Star to Hall of Fame.

I don't know for sure, but I think that it's a little more nuanced in The Show (maybe the way the game is built lends itself to that, or maybe baseball in general does). I think instead of the rating boosts, the CPU will barrel the ball up better on higher difficulties. For one, on All Star I could pretty much live in the strikezone as a pitcher but on HoF I have to mix in balls or they will tattoo it. Same on mistakes, they will kill you on mistakes.

For hitting, I used to be an All Star player too but HoF is the way to go this year for us career All Stars. The biggest and most notable difference is the PCI. It's much smaller, which means it's harder to square the ball up, which leads to less homers, and more variable hit types. On All Star I wasn't seeing hardly any curving liners or sinking liners or things like this, but on HoF I have it all including flare hits, all because I couldn't square it up perfectly anymore. Also, the pitchers still miss the same amount of pitches as All Star (maybe more actually), but they are better at placing them. So the balls and strikes aren't so obvious.

Also, av7 is right, the perceived ball speed (not the actual speed, that's set by ratings) that has it's own slider does go up by default in HoF. So a Pitch Speed slider of 7 in HoF means a lot more than one of 7 on All Star. And oddly enough, it makes me a better hitter. The faster the ball is coming in, I don't have time to try and pick out exactly what pitch it is and where it is going. I have to rely on my instincts and reaction time.

And if you're worried about less hits because of superhuman outfielders, since the new ball physics started taking more effect, I actually saw more doubles and less balls cut off before they hit the wall.

Are you using Zone or Directional when hitting?
