Some interesting analysis on catch percentage/drop rates based on GamerHuddle data.

Hey guys - I've been frustrated by drops/knockouts in my online league so I wanted to run a quick calculation on all leagues and stats that have been synced with GamerHuddle. What I found was a little surprising and overwhelming consistent across the top 25 WRs in synced data.

On average across all league data, WRs seem to drop 1 in 10 passes. Not sure if this can be correlated to some of the logic built in for Madden or is just based on circumstances.

Thought it would be interesting to share, if there is any other data that you would like to see, let me know.

This is all based on data from over 65,000 games synced.

Can you give anymore information about how the data was compiled? Whether or not certain routes were being run and that kind of thing?

1/10 does seem extremely high, but i think the high percentage of knockouts is compensating for Madden's inability to handle QB accuracy. You either hit them in the numbers, or the pass is headed for a different zip code.

First thing that stuck out to me on the list though was how Gronk and Reed had two of the highest catch rates, and both are tight ends. Anybody have more info. on how that works? Does strength help prevent knockouts?

The data was compiled strictly from using the exact stats that were exported to my website, GamerHuddle (https://gamerhuddle.com), for all the leagues using it to view their online leagues on the web. So this data is the exact data exported directly from EA.

Unfortunately I don't have any other information other than catches and drops. I've also noticed that not all knockouts are counted as drops either from a strictly observational note (remembering my player got hit and dropped it and then noticing in the stats post game they didn't credit him with a drop).

This is interesting data to see. However, I'd be wary to draw any conclusions for it without knowing what roles these players are playing, what kind of routes they are running, what types of catches they are attempting, etc. Also, assuming these numbers are drawn from season stats, I do wonder if the compiled numbers discount stats generated from simulated games.

Anecdotally, I've had Dez Bryant on my team every single year of my Madden franchise this year and I've yet to see him drop a wide-open pass. He absolutely doesn't drop one in ten passes.
