2017 OSFM Hybrid (V1.1 Released)

Another year, and another version of the OSFM Hybrid!

First, a special thanks to those that contributed to the project. This couldn't have been done without each and everyone of them: Willard76, bobloblah1980, Mizzou24, redsoxfan31, Rovert22044, redsfan4life and patsen29.

Also, it must be said none of this happens with Ridin and the OSFM team. Those guys continue to put out an excellent roster every single year, and we really appreciate them allowing us to use their roster as a base. You can find their thread here: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-0-v2-5-a.html

Second, this is an on-going project. If you find something you think is an error, and please look at the player's stats before stating you think the player is incorrectly rated, then please share. It helps the project. As for the roster itself, here is what to expect:

V1 will include:

- Full 100% re-rate
- Opening Day rosters
- Pitch edits with special thanks to MBMavs
- Missing AAA players added (as well as some AA)
- Face edits
- Stance/Motion edits
- Potential edits
- Contract edits

V2 and beyond will include:

- Updated transactions
- Equipment edits
- Re-rates where needed
- Hitting tendencies

You can download the roster under the PSN CrapInMyShoe

Lastly, if you like this roster, please give it a thumbs up and 5 stars on the thread. It helps with visibility for the roster.

Enjoy!

OSFM is almost here! Getting close for Hybrid to begin cranking out the best ratings for MLB the Show you are going to find anywhere. Full minor league re-rates as well!

Re: 2017 OSFM Hybrid

Happy to be helping out on this great project again! Looking forward to working with everyone, happy to see Houston and rovert are brining their great talents from their own roster projects to the Hybrid set this year. It's going to be a good year for OSFM and Hybrid!

Each editor would work on certain teams at their own pace and then a master file was used to import those updated players into the base file. Am I understanding that correctly?
Yes and no. Multiple editors can do edits on created players within multiple roster versions and import all the different edits later into a single master copy because CAPS are import/exportable. This won't work when adjusting real SCEA players (not importable/exportable). When you're working on the real SCEA players, that needs to be done on the master copy. Also keep in mind that edits on the master copy need to be carefully controlled--if a SCEA player is edited to lose a certain set of positions, for example, that's an irreversible error.

A key to streamlining your process would be including a change log and/or sign out spreadsheet/doc so editors know what other people are doing. That way you avoid duplication and confusion. This very explicit process helped us onboard some new editors last year (bobloblah1980 among them) without our systems and processes breaking down (Willard, teeds, and myself got to the point where it was mostly telepathic as to what each other were doing editswise--that takes time to develop).

Thanks WTNY! Really appreciate the detailed explanation. That makes much more sense now.

Did you really find it enough of a time saver to edit CAPs on a different file? I guess it could be the way to do all the minor league players, but then a ton of effort is involved with exporting/importing all those players into the master.

Re: 2017 OSFM Hybrid

I will put it out here for everyone to read and then you all can decide the route you want to go. I will do either set up. If we have 5+ guys the split roster editing will be a quicker process until the importing has to start.
4 or less 1 roster will work just fine

That all depends on how much time you save by working with multiple copies vs how much time you'd spend re-importing that work from the different pieces.

When we did the Hybrid in the past, we basically turned OSFM inside out and revamped almost everything about the minor league players. As you might imagine, that process was much more time-consuming than importing them back in so it made sense for us to do it that way. We gained a lot of time by spreading the work out over a few different people (especially with the face edits) and re-importing it all later. In your case it depends on what all you hope to accomplish and how many capable hands you have available to task with what. If you guys don't plan on editing the OSFM minor league players very much, then it might not make sense for you to do it the way we did.
