#OSFM 17: Chicago Cubs World Series Champions

A month out from game release I thought I would start the Cubs thread. I put together a list of 131 players that have some legitimate claim to be on the OSFM roster. I know a handful of players will be cut before the season starts and other players will be claimed off of waivers, so this provides some wiggle room for replacement players depending on position or maybe popularity.

A couple predictions of mine is that Tommy La Stella is traded before opening day since Szczur is out of options and he had his whole fiasco last year after being optioned too. I also think Szczur may be traded or waived for them to make room for Jeimer Candelario instead. The versatility of the entire team make it to where they don't NEED a specific position, it's just a matter of tools they think can be more helpful to the team and a good switch hitting 3B/1B may be more valuable to them. I ultimately think Szczur makes the roster since he is a good defensive substitution, good PH against lefties, and a good option for a pinch runner.

I used The Cub Reporter (http://www.thecubreporter.com/cubs-s...al-depth-chart) as my primary source to build these rosters combined with news I've read and just overall paying attention to my team. Prospects on a top ten list will be bold with a bracket displaying what list and number they placed, I used MLB, Baseball Prospectus, and Baseball America for this. All top 10 prospects are included in the 90 man roster. I have all 40 man roster players on the roster denoted by an asterisk*. I also have all "predicted" AAA and AA players listed too. Like I said, 131 players. Don't pay too much attention to what level I have them at. Caleb Smith and Kevin Cornelius have to be at MLB and AAA respectively since they are rule 5 picks so I placed them there.
Let me know your thoughts, who should be bumped down or up? Besides that I can't wait until the new game comes out.

Go Cubs Go!

Re: #OSFM 17: Chicago Cubs World Series Champions

So I just saw a list of the top 18 players at every position and I was surprised by a few things.

They don't have Addison Russell as one of the top 18 SS in the league. Additionally, Schwarber and Contreras don't show up at all. I guess I can see them not putting Schwarber and Contreras in as they're still "unproven" and it might depend what position they list Schwarber at. So my bigger contention is no Russell in the top 18. He was tied for 10th among SS in runs score, 15th in hits, 16th in doubles, tied for 11th in triples, 7th in homeruns, 2nd in RBIs, 6th in walks, 17th in batting average, 10th in OBP., 13th in SLG., 11th in OPS. and is very good defensive player.

Thats got to be something as simple as oversight. In the last roster update Addison was rated an 82 overall, up from the default 79 he started at. I bet he's an 85 in 17.

I thought I remembered seeing Russell in one of the streams at a mid 80's rating, probably just an oversight by whoever wrote the article, there is no way that his fielding ability and batting production still don't equal at least a 78 overall. As for Schwarber, many don't expect him to be much of anything at LF and I expect MLB the Show to think the same. They had him rated around a 77 last year as a LF and I expect he will be rated about the same. I wouldn't be too worried about it, I'm just going to edit them myself anyway, you should too if you don't like their ratings.

I probably will edit them. They sometimes under-rate some hitting attributes

Awesome job putting this together. I can't wait till next week to get start playing this game. Of course I'll be waiting even longer to play with actual minor leaguers as well.
