Unfortunately, I don't have time to create a creative story to make this make sense. I simply wanted to put a legend on a lesser team and have some fun. I do this every year and accompany it with an OS dynasty thread. In the past I've gone with Michael Jordan most years and putting him on one of the bottom teams in the league and having some fun. I also usually sim a season, do all of the off-season stuff and hold a draft before I actually start playing games. I didn't want to do that this time. I'm married and have a kid now and doing that is an extra 5+ hours of gaming that I don't really have these days. Basically, I wanted a team that, based on ratings and rosters on the game, kinda sucked but still had one other stud/semi-stud that would help me contend for the playoffs and make for a fun duo.

I considered teams like the Mavericks (Barnes is young and an 83 OVR on the rosters I'm using), the Bucks (their roster was a little too good), the Magic (but I really wanted to go with Kareem as my "legend" and Orlando's highest rated player was a center), the Heat (same thing, highest rated player is a center), and Nuggets (again, highest rated player is a center). I ended up settling on the Lakers. I could put Kareem on his old team and have two young, exciting players to team him up with in D'Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram.


First thing I did was find a trade to get rid of either Timofey Mozgov (option #1) or Luol Deng (option #2). I found a good trade that netted me John Henson as my backup center and I shipped Mozgov, Metta World Peace's expiring contract, and an unprotected 2nd round pick to the Bucks.
