Player Look-Alikes (NBA 2K16)

I know this thread is mostly about NBA 2K17 stuff, but I also know there are a handful of people still playing 2K16 or wanting to jump back to 2K16 due to some various annoyances with 2K17. I tried 2K17 for a while before deciding that I had was having way more fun with 2K16. The only issue, obviously, is outdated rosters. I love tinkering with rosters. I managed to add a decent chunk of the 2017 rookies in 2K16 without resorting to Create-a-players.

In order to do this, you simply have to find an existing player (preferably a free agent or someone from a historic roster), who looks pretty similar to a current rookie, then go and edit that player, rename them, resize their body, change their rating and moves, etc. Its worked pretty well for the most part. I decided to share the look-alikes I've found for a lot of the rookies, if anyone else wanted to do this with their custom rosters. Not all are perfect, but all are better than create-a-players, in my opinion (which all end up looking the same).

Ben Simmons: Drew Gordon [FREE AGENT] (head and body look a LOT like him, the only issue is the hair.)

Brandon Ingram: Larry Drew II [FREE AGENT] (Hair looks a lot like his, but his body does not... hard to find one for Ingram but this has worked okay once you make his body length 0 and wingspan long)

Kris Dunn: Hersey Hawkins [95-96 SUPERSONICS] (Up close his face looks a bit old, but overall pretty close look)

Bryce Johnson: Bryce Cotton [FREE AGENT] (Ironic they share the same first name, but spot on similar look)

Malcolm Brogden: Jabari Brown [FREE AGENT] (Pretty similar looking face, same sort of facial gestures, similar body)

Jamal Murray: Chris Babb [FREE AGENT] (I have him a long sleeve shirt to cover up his tattoos, plus he used to wear a shirt in high school like it, face isn't perfect but haven't found one I like better yet)

Denzel Valentine: Jannero Pargo [FREE AGENT] (Pretty spot on)

Jonathan Simmons: Daminon James [FREE AGENT] (Had his hairline come down his forehead a little further, would be perfect, but still pretty close, though body is a bit thick)

Kay Felder: Dionte Christmas [FREE AGENT] (Spot on from a distance)

Buddy Hield: Dwight Buycks [FREE AGENT] (Not perfect, but decent enough)

J.P. Tokoto: Shane Edwards [FREE AGENT] (I know he's not in the league currently, but I had him as lookalike in preseason- not perfect but kinda close except hair)

Derrick Jones Jr.: Rakeem Christmas [PACERS] (Yes... he's currently in the NBA, but the similarity is SPOT ON. Just have to choose which player you would use more, since both are deep on the bench)

Michael Gbnije: Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf [93-94 NUGGETS] (Pretty close, except body is a bit skinny)

Marquese Chriss: A.C. Green [86-87 LAKERS] (Make sure its this year, since he has the mini-fro and mustache... Skin tone is a bit darker than Chriss's, but overall kind of close other than that. Its a shame, 2K17 had him perfect)

Stephen Zimmerman: Pete Maravich [70-71 JAZZ] (Tough because Zimmerman looks like a high schooler, but the hair is pretty close and face looks plain enough from a distance to look similar, and body is pretty close)

Dragan Bender: Alessandro Gentile [EA7 Emporio Armani Milan] (The model Looks nothing like Alessandro Gentile but sure as heck looks like Dragan Bender!)

Aaron/Andrew Harrison: Bill Bradley [70-71 HAWKS] (Skin is a lot darker, but similar looking otherwise)

Wade Baldwin: Josh Huestis [THUNDER] (Like Derrick Jones Jr., you'll have to choose if you want to use him or Wade Baldwin, since they look very similar)

Deyonta Davis: Cartier Martin [FREE AGENT] (Pretty spot on except tattoos)

Skal Labissiere: Jerry Chambers [70-71 HAWKS] (Pretty spot on)

Ron Baker: Craig Ehlo [89-90 CAVALIERS] (Hair is similar, looks a lot like him from a distance)

Norman Powell: Damon Stoudamire [99-00 RAPTORS] (Closest I was able to find)

Henry Ellenson: Anton Ponkrashov [UNICS KAZAN] (Apparently they added him later on the game, because he's not on my edited roster, but came across him accidentally and looks a lot like Henry Ellenson... too bad I can't import him)

Domantas Sabonis: Baris Hersek [FENERBAHCE ULKER INSTANBUL] (I actually used a different model, since I didn't see this one before. This one is just as good as mine. I can't remember which player I used, since they may have removed him. But it was from an international team)

Dejounte Murray: Jerrell Eddie [FREE AGENT] (Not the best, hair not really accurate, but overall kind of looks like him)

Bobby Brown: Reggie Williams [93-94 NUGGETS] (If you were able to give him a headband, it would be spot on...)

Cheick Diallo: Willis Reed [71-72 KNICKS] (Surprisingly, a very close resemblence)

Joel Bolomboy: Malcolm Thomas [FREE AGENT] (Doesn't seem like it, but they look pretty similar. Tattoos are different though)

Caris Levert: Jordan Adams [GRIZZLIES/FREE AGENT] (Spot on, minus a slightly different hair style. Better than 2K17's model)

I think those are about all the ones I've done so far. I might be forgetting a few. I actually had one for Thon Maker, but I can't remember who's model I used! (They may have removed it in an update... though it was a bit generic). I'll try to add more over time, if I find any that work. And feel free to add to this list, or give suggestions for alternatives. I always look at real life images and study the player models to see if enough features are similar, or just the overall look is similar when I decide. If there is one big feature that is instantly recognizable, I aim to match that first (like a specific hairstyle, for example). Otherwise I just try to get a model that looks close enough, but definitely looks like a real person and not a "create-a-player."

I'm still looking for a good replacement for Jaylen Brown. He has such a unique hairstyle that its hard to find one. I may have to settle for a version of him with a "haircut."

And some of these might work in 2K17 too, if a player is missing or you aren't happy with the generic look they gave them (Stephen Zimmerman... cough, cough...).

Also, I decided that Dejounte Murray was better matched to Anthony Brown. I didn't use him originally because back then he was on the Lakers roster, but now he's sort of floating around free agency. But they look pretty similar.
