The Cleveland Way - A Cleveland Browns Madden '17 Franchise

JIMMY HASLAM SELLS CLEVELAND BROWNS TO RELATIVE UNKNOWN

Jimmy Haslam addressing the media after giving up control of his Browns

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- After a vastly disappoint first season for the Cleveland Brown's under Hue Jackson's control, which ended in a 1-15 season, with the Browns's only victory coming off of a very distressed Mike McCoy Chargers team, evidently Haslam has decided that Cleveland isn't worth the effort anymore, and has sold the team to someone who hasn't been burnt out by all the losing.

Enter Trevor Jean-Louis. Jean-Louis is a renowned college and high school football coach, known for being apart of Cam Newton's development at Auburn, and for him having Belichickian tendencies at being able to adjust his gameplans on the fly, has gotten the investment of an ownership group led by a company only known as GoonSquad Investments Corp.

Not that the Browns staff should have too much to worry about, it's been reported that Jean-Louis intends to give Sashi Brown and everyone below a relatively long leash, citing that it's not important to the owner whether or not they win immediately, Jean Louis reportedly saying "If you expect this team to be winning seasons in the next 2-3 years, you're absolutely insane."

While most appreciate an owner finally willing to let the football people have the time to rebuild the team, many will wonder if he's perhaps giving them too much leash.

That's not the only good news to come out of Cleveland though, it's has also been reported that after speaking with their new owner, Jamie Collins Sr. has signed a new deal with the Cleveland Browns, totaling 5 years, with an 11.3 million dollar signing bonus and 42.5 million is going to be distributed over the years.

Good news for Cleveland, can it keep coming? That is for sure, a big question.

TERRELLE PRYOR SR. RESIGNS WITH BROWNS

Pryor, after resigning with the Browns earlier this week

CLEVELAND, OHIO --In a not so surprising move at all, the Browns have brought back reciever Terrelle Pryor, Pryor showed alot of potential this last season as perhaps becoming a WR #1, if not at least a very good secondary option, it would be not be at all surprising if the Browns added another WR in the draft this offseason, but one thing is for sure, Terrelle Pryor has given the Browns plenty of reason to believe in him.

BROWNS ALLOW ALL BUT TWO FAS TO WALK, PROCEED TO TAKE BIGGEST HAUL IN FREE AGENCY

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- Yes, you heard it here first folks, after letting everyone except Terrelle Pryor and Jamie Collins walk in free agency, the Browns have unexpectedly opened their pockets and have given alot of money to this class of free agents, honestly adding some very good talent at OLB, WR and HB.

Here is the list of contracts of the free agents the Brown signed in 3 weeks of FA.

Tom Savage - 2 years 10 million
Dion Lewis - 4 years 26 million
Darren McFadden - 2 years 6.6 million
Kenny Stills - 4 years 21.4 million
Willie Snead IV - 3 years 17.7 million
Mychal Rivera - 3 years 12.9 million
Nate Garner - 1 year 4.24 million
Sebastian Vollmer - 2 years 9.7 million
Mario Williams - 2 years 9.34 million
Jason Jones - 3 years 8.37 million
Shaquill Barrett - 5 years 45.1 million
DeMarcus Ware - 1 year 3.68 million
Sean Richardson - 2 years 3.24 million

Now, anyone can clearly see that adding Kenny Stills and Willie Snead could create some what of a log jam at WR, but knowing Hue Jackson, you can definitely expect to see alot of 4 WR sets this coming season, with the Browns adding Tom Savage to a QB room with Cody Kessler and RGIII, and also being expected to add a QB in the draft, Jackson will find a QB to get this guys some catches, one way or another.

The Browns also showed tremendous faith in Duke Johnson Jr by allowing Isaiah Crowell to leave, but also gave him some speedy back ups by adding Dion Lewis and Darren McFadden.

The Browns are also big on veteran leadership adding tackles Nate Garner and Sebastian Vollmer to strengthen and bridge an offensive line group lead by Joe Thomas, the Browns added Jason Jones, Mario Williams and DeMarcus Ware, Mario Williams will be one to watch as he's washed out in Buffalo and now Miami, the Browns will be the 4th team Williams has suited up for, Williams will be responsible for mentoring Emmanuel Ogbah.

All in all, the Browns are sending a clear message that despite their owner's understanding, they'd rather win sooner than later.

CLEVELAND BROWNS DRAFT RECAP/GRADING

Round One, #1

Grading: A+
The Browns nailed the first pick in the draft with Eldridge. Having been compared to a more accurate version of Carson Palmer with the intelligence of Peyton Manning, there is certainly high, but well deserved expecations in Cleveland this season. With the other quarterbacks on Cleveland's roster, there's no reason to expect anyone but CJ Eldridge under center.

Round One, #13

Grading: A+
Clearly, Sashi Brown and Co. have this whole 'drafting' thing down pretty good, they spotted a very talented TE that was given a low-first round grade and believed in him, and how right they were to. Boothe is clearly meant to be the successor to Gary Barnidge at the starting TE position, Barnidge is clearly in at most the last 3 years of his career and the Browns appear to have found the answer for when Barnidge is gone.

Round Two, #1
Grading: C(C+ if he works out as a player)

Okay, I lied. This was not a good pick for a second round selection, granted he's 6'4" and appears to actually have pretty decent capability as a redzone target, it's been said from his scouting reports that he can be a little slow in the head and may not develop as quickly as perhaps CJ Eldridge. I honestly don't know if he'll find a roster spot due to the talent ahead of him. Would not expect much out of Nelson this season.

Round 2, #16
Grading: C-

As you can see, Marion Worrell does not have a lot going for him on the football side, he's fast so the Browns could probably find a spot for him on special teams but at the most he's a career backup player.

Round Three, #1
Grading: C+

This actually wasn't that bad of a pick, Kenyon Davis has the tools to at least catch opposing blockers off guard with his speed and power moves, the Browns clearly needed depth at OLB and found a guy who could operate very well in that position.

Round Five, #1
Grading: B-
[/center]
I'd consider this player a steal at this range, he's fast for a guy of his size, is very strong and has shown a surprising gift at the run game, the Browns can develop him either way here, as a strong runstopper or a bulldozing pass rusher.

Round Six, #1
Grading: B+

The Browns found a gem here in the sixth round, Scott Lichtensteiger was known in college to be a very smart kid, often picking things up rather quickly, Lichtensteiger is a very strong pass blocker, often showing a decent ability for someone at his age for keeping hold of his blocks and not getting shedded. Considering the offensive line talent on the Browns, would not be surprised if he was starting.

BROWNS SEASON DERAILED BEFORE IT BEGINS, ROOKIE QB ELDRIDGE OUT FOR SEASON

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- Just when you thought things were looking up for the Browns, disaster strikes in the worst way possible. During the regular season dress rehearsal game vs the Jaguars in week 3 of the preseason, a sack by Malik Jackson sent CJ Eldridge to the ground in pain, clutching his shoulder. An X-ray later revealed that CJ Eldridge fractured his shoulder blade in his throwing arm, effectively ending the rookie's season right then and there.

Coach Hue Jackson had this to say on the matter.

"You know, it's really a shame when a player like CJ [Eldridge] gets hurt, because you know he just wants to go out there and compete and he can't. The good thing is that this guy never stops learning, most young guys never stop developing, at least mentally. If they can't do the physical side, expect them to focus on the mental. The good news is that he is at least close by."

Jackson took a very positive approach to the injury, not something you see most coaches do. For Eldridge, the former Longhorn quarterback will be residing in Cleveland for his rehab, the Browns have also brought in former Eagles quarterbacks coach, John DeFilipo, who is also known for helping develop Derek Carr. Clearly the Browns are focused on making sure Eldridge comes back with alot of his mental kinks worked out, but not all of those can be worked out without even playing a real game.

But some other news as well, former Patriots QB Tom Brady heard about Eldridge's injury and had this to say.

"I feel sorry for the kid, I really do, nothing feels weirder than your rookie season in the NFL, and to have that taken from you is a huge lost learning opportunity, I see so much potential for this kid, he reminds everyone of Carson [Palmer] cause of his arm and of Peyton [Manning] for his pre-snap reads and intelligence, but what do people not see? The competitive fire that it takes to play in this league, especially play QB. I see me in him, in that regard.

He has my number if he needs ANYTHING."

Glowing words from Brady, for sure.

The Browns have not yet named a starting QB for Week One.

This was also not the only injury the Browns suffered.

Slot WR, Willie Snead IV was also injured in Week 4's game versus the Colts, he took a bad hit on the legs from CB Vontae Davis and it dislocated the ankle for the WR, he will be out 4 weeks and will be back in Week 3, Snead should hope to recover quickly as the Browns have depth at WR and Snead might come back to a smaller role than he had before.
