What Position To Play & Not To Play

What position do you all like to play on defense? And which position should you never play because it could mess up coverage or whatever? I usually play end but don't get enough done there. I am guessing linebacker. If you are playing linebacker, do you switch to another player if a pass is thrown? I don't think I would be very successful at playing linebacker and a deep pass is thrown and then I try to switch to cornerback to try and knock it down or intercept. Or do I have this all wrong?

Re: What Position To Play & Not To Play

I usually play somewhere along the defensive line. I would be way too much of a liability in pass coverage with my skills. Occasionally, if I'm feeling the need to bring a safety blitz, I will control that player.

I will note that there are some seasons, when I'm wanting a bit more challenge, that I elect not to play left end. Since most QB's are right-handed, the vast majority of their scrambles go the right side, and if I'm facing a QB that's heavy scrambling tendency, I am in position to just nail him for a tackle for loss, almost every time. So, there are those times when I just control an interior lineman.

Re: What Position To Play & Not To Play

I only play coach mode now, but back when I played I was always a MLB. I like being in the middle of the D and usually being in position to make a tackle. I would never switch either and I'd let my CPU guys make the tackle if I wasn't in position. I would also certainly never switch when the ball was midair because with ball hawk, it makes it WAAAAAY to easy to switch to a DB and pick off the pass.

Re: What Position To Play & Not To Play

I used to only play D-line because I would always give up big plays if I played other positions because my stick skills sucked. But then I started using a linebacker and practicing and now that's the position I user 95% of the time

Re: What Position To Play & Not To Play

I play SS except in 3rd & extremely longs or prevent, then I play OLB.

SS gives me the versatility to impact the game on every level. If a TE is killing my LB, I can double team him. If my line isn't getting any pressure, I can blitz off the edge. If they are pounding me with the run, I can be like an extra LB in the box.
