Will utilizing the full 25-99 rating scale break the game stat-wise??

Not sure why the full rating scale isn't used.
Every roster I've seen has players like Damian Lillard's on ball defense at like 65 which is not good, but on a 25-99 = 1-74 scale that's a 40/74, higher than 50 percentile....which anyone who watches the blazers, loves him, but knows he is awful on ball defense, pick n roll defense, and help defense.
Wouldn't more realistic ratings be like 33, 29, 28 respectively???

If I used sonicimage stat crunch ratings/tendencies for the shooting, rebounding, passing, steals and blocks..but used my own knowledge and advanced stats to fully revamp the defensive, physical, and athletic ratings, could that create both stat accurate and fun SIM gameplay???

Thoughts??

I have always thought of this for not just basketball but other games as well. If it's there, why not use it? Would probably require sliders to make the game work realistically, but with proper adjustment of rating and sliders that give realistic results with ratings that had "broke" the normal game, it would be better. Gameplay would be similar but would allow users to better assess strengths and weaknesses on the GM aspect.

Doesn't the game trigger animations based on ratings? I'm thinking if you lower attributes to get the full spectrum it would look like a 1960s game

Can anyone confirm this?? I'd trade some animations, however, for a more realistic experience

Ratings have always played a critical role in animation picking. One simple example is dunks: the higher the dunk rating, the more complicated dunk animations that can be performed. No magic there.

But animation picking is a very important component for sports AI in general for getting believably realistic movements and behaviors, I don't think you would want that changed.

I think a part of it is the NBAPA agreement to let players names and liekeness' be a part of the game.

I think if a whole bunch of 27 rated players made complaints to the Players association there would some heated discussions.

If you come up with a scale I'm down to try editing a few teams.

Im actually about to do it because this year there feels like almost zero seperation between ELITE -> Great -> Good -> Journeymen - > High Potential - > not so good players

True, I've thought about that. The ratings tho, tend to scale toward real life as opposed to video games.

My idea would be to scale it towards nba players.
