Any chance the POEs are brought back in this game?

I've seen a lot of talk about the primary and true weaknesses of this game as it stands now with 1.04 (shooting, DEFENSE - both on and off the ball, and also transition D, passing).

I have been questioning since the game has been released why have the Points of Emphasis been taken out.

They are crucial if you are looking for a sim game. I've been playing this game since 2k7 and this has been a very good addition that makes the tactical experience of this game deeper. So why, all of a sudden, make it disappear?

I have had for years both offensive and defensive gameplan.

On offense, I have loved the introduction of freelance offenses, and taken advantage of them to develop my unique playstyle.

But on D, without the POE, there's no real fun anymore in playing the game.

Basically everybody is forced to be at the mercy of the randomness on that side of the court.

Combine that with the dreadful off ball defense, and the invisible force that creates a gap between the on ball defender and the offensive player, and you've got half the game completely out of your ability and skill. I was questioning myself if the goal is to turn 2k into a scoring chuckfest.

While on offense controlling a player I'm super smooth dribbling and moving, because the game is ultra responsive, on defense I'm consistently pushed to unwanted spots on the court, while the defensive assist is set at 0. Input lag seems to be there as well.

Balance is definitely lacking.

Back to the main point of the topic, ACE doesn't seem to work at all and also not working properly. What bothers me is there was no reason to force the hand of the users by taking away POEs.

Can we have them back?

As great as offense is (could be, if the next patch fixes some big holes) in this game, defense is a crucial part of the experience and I hope team 2k can address that.

Don't want to be back to 2k15 ways, a game I had to drop for similar reasons.

I want POE back too

Unfortunately though they have spent all that time advertizing that ACE will do these things for you (it doesn't), that I do not believe it will come back

I dont think its that easy. Something like that is lying quite deep in the sim engine that works under the hood I guess so it would take quite some effort to fix/change that...

I got the bad feeling that this game will end like 2k15, theyll fix the most obvious gameplay unrelated bugs through patches and then have to start development for 2k18...

It should be very easy

You have the exact same option when you start the game, and change to turn ACE off.

They do not have to re-create anything. These adjustments are already in the game

Agree I was very disheartened to see them taken out, I would've rathered just about anything other than taking them out. It's more difficult to make sure teams are differentiated and to set a specific gameplan without them. Ideally it should work WITH ACE not in spite of it. The POEs should be the default philosophy of the team and ACE should be the in game adjustments.

What are you talking about??? POEs is still in the game and with more options. You just can't make any changes before the game starts.

Re: Any chance the POEs are brought back in this game?

They interwinded/related POE in such a way with ACE that they cant be fully integrated as it used to be, that was implied on another thread where they did said that the sim stats engine was still using it and that it could be brought in for that purpose only (not for on court/gameplay use).

Having said that, a version of POE is implemented within ACE, indeed with many more options as said by the prior user. Some of its presentation and functionality should be updated/improved but they are there.

I am all in for adding, fixing things and for granting the user with options, the more the better ... Then again, what I cant understand is how some of us lose perception when labeling things as "easy to fix", when we have no context/knowledge/idea of how to implement/fix/edit videogames on a dev level and even if we did, making such huge assumptions when not having access to the game in such level, is not right ... no 2 games are the same, even if built with the same core/engine.

Thats what I meant. We still have it on the user side but we dont know about the cpu side and we also dont know how exactly it works together with ACE. I suppose (and thats a positive for 2k) they have made it that way for a reason. Im a software developer myself (not game development), its not just a mouse click and suddenly we have POE's back.
