Potential and Intangibles Ratings

What is the difference between the two??

Potential seems to be how good the player can be..

So does Intangible show how productive the player can be..

I'm just trying to figure out how they tie together.

They don't tie together. Potential is used by MyLeague to handle player progression, Intangibles is not used by MyLeague at all.

Intangibles was created by the gameplay team, but its purpose is still unknown as far as I know. Theories I've seen for it so far, like scrambling for 50/50 balls, are probably inaccurate because those are already handled by the Hustle attribute. It could have something to do with effectiveness setting screens or taking charges, in previous games those were always handled by badges and Strength.

It actually has an inherent affect on MyLeague. It is improperly described as "intangibles" but is actually the value (an added weight in roster management of that player) of the player to that particular team or to his particular skill.

Could you elaborate further on "value to team".

So you mean importance to team??

So it's different for every team or is it merely just production.

I see guys who are like 78 overall putting up MVP level numbers with high intangible ratings

Has that been verified? This is the quote from the MyLeague producer about it: "We don't use Intangibles in the simulation. Not sure what the AI guys use it for in gameplay." Which makes it sound like it was added by gameplay design, so I just assumed it had no effect outside of actual on-the-court gameplay.

Re: Potential and Intangibles Ratings

Not confirmed by a dev but I've done my tests and I am confirming that it is used as a ratings booster it more importantly a "behind the scenes roster logic" assistance if you will.

Nothing to do with gameplay or sim stats but lots to do with logic. There is my one nugget that I will drop this year.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that could be an unintended side effect though. The attribute supposedly affects gameplay, so they made it impact overall rating. Because it impacts overall rating, it necessarily affects roster/contract logic. May be intentional, but I wouldn't be positive it is.
