Adjustable Season Length in Franchise Mode?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone with NHL 17 could confirm whether you can play less than the full 82 game schedule in franchise mode? I'm not a fan of simming games and dont have the time for a full schedule.

cheers

I don't think you can in franchise, but what you could do is enable gm firing, so you don't need to stay with one team every time, I don't think this option will ever be in NHL game , sorry man , hate to rain on you're parade and stuff, .

Re: Adjustable Season Length in Franchise Mode?

This is a feature I wish was in more sports game. I don't like to sim games because I want to know all of the goals/assists/wins, etc are mine, but I do not have the patience to play an entire season.

NBA2k has it done right. I play 26 game regular seasons and then a modified playoff format. This allows me to play all of the games, earn all of the stats, and develop players beyond just a year or two.

I have been wanting this for years. I tried to do the simming thing and it just caused me to lose total interest in my franchise and i never touched it again.

Re: Adjustable Season Length in Franchise Mode?

I just finished the first season playing all 82 games and entire playoffs. While it was exhausting at times, at the end it was extremely satisfying. I recommend just doing that, it takes longer for sure, but you don't have to speed through the season. For me it's fun just to try to get points to my players and see their names go higher on rankings.

Though personally for me towards the end of the season I started playing so much my eyes hurt, because I really wanted to move on to the draft and free agency and see which players got upgraded. But I couldn't allow myself to sim through anything as I had played so far already.

You can of course play 3 minute periods, like I did during the last half of playoffs, but before that I played 4 min periods.

Also have tried simming through seasons before and it's not so fun unless you sim one game at a time watching the game. That way you feel like you're the manager and actually watch the games.

Re: Adjustable Season Length in Franchise Mode?

Thanks for replies. I’m glad I’m not the only one who wishes this feature was present in the NHL series. I’ve always assumed they haven’t added it due to some issue with progression or logic in the simulation engine, but 2K manages to do it so must be achievable. When I saw customisation was the focus this year, my hopes were raised temporarily.

Re: Adjustable Season Length in Franchise Mode?

I understand we cant change legth of season, but can we control more than 1 team in Franchise mode???..........In Madden you can created multiple owners in your franchise and flip back and forth in your franchise

Id like the ability to control multiple teams in Franchise mode....or at least the ability to play different teams games on the schedule in Franchise mode so when I need a break from my team I can jump in and play random matches around the league and the post season games if I want

Is this possible?

What kind of sliders were you using for your 4 minute games? What kind of shot totals were you getting? I'm interested in finding a slider set for 5 minute periods or less as long as shot totals are in the 30/game range.
