OBG's NHL 17 Sliders All Star-10 min Periods

Premise (Very important, please read!!!)
Ok, first and foremost, I absolutely MUST thank Al Tito for his amazing work as it was my basis to work from coming up my adjustments. Well, its so much his work, that I only feel I can truly take credit ONLY for the goaltender/shot relationship issue of this slider set. Most of the sliders are the exact same as his, so much so that I simply copy pasted his table and changed what I had different than him in order to save an abundance of time. All in all, there are only about 20 differences from Al’s sliders and most of them are very slight.

Thank you, AL!!! You da man!!!

Ok, this is where I feel it gets important so stick with me and Ill try to be concise. My focus was trying to attain as close as I could to realistic stats as possible in goals per game combined, shots, powerplay opportunities, as well as find a variance in games ranging from high scoring affairs to low scoring games as well. Now, as some have pointed out, this may come down to play style but I did samples of 10 games where I tracked the stats on both sides and this is what I came up with. Actually, due to demand, I didn’t play the 10th game so this is after 9 games.
In the 9 games played with 10 minute periods, which I feel is crucial to getting the desired results, here are the totals. There were a total of 46 power plays for an average of 5.1 calls per game. There were 46 goals for an equal average of 5.1 goals per game. There were 3 high scoring games: a pair of 5-4 games and a 5-3 affair. The other 6 games had a combined total of 5 or less goals; 2-1 (three times), 3-2 (once), 3-0 (once) and 3-1 (once). I was outshot on average by a 28.2 to 25.7 count. Some games I would receive 6 power plays to the CPUs 1…then the next game would be totally different. So allow time for the random nature of the game to average out over a decent sample size before making a decision. If anything, I will probably slightly raise the likelihood that my CPU team mates take penalties as I feel I have a power play chance advantage…5 clicks should do the trick. I’ll adjust for that right now before posting this so its in the listed slider values.
During Shootouts, I highly advise you to raise puck control on BOTH sides and lower BOTH HUM and CPU save reaction ALL THE WAY DOWN to about 30!!! Unless you just LOVE shootouts that go 20 rounds, which I highly doubt.

The biggest thing I did different than AL was aiding the HUM goaltender save reaction which might be because he probably has Carey Price between the pipes. Those of us with more average goaltenders need a bit of a boost to put up decent save percentages. Jake Allen has about a .910 save percentage with this set. That said, I also play with the CPU goaltender save reaction higher than Al’s is set as I was finding it too easy to score more often than not. Additionally, I made the CPU goaltender better at stopping my deflections as I was not feeling very rewarded when scoring those types of goals. It seemed to be getting out of hand. I also have the screen effect lower than Al’s.

There are differences in CPU and HUM shot accuracy. The CPU seemed to be able to get shots on net much easier and from all positions and was highly outshooting me by an average of 7 per game even when playing stout defense with STL. Since my adjustments the CPU still out shoots me but by just an average of 2 or 3 shots.

Anyways, here are the sliders…these are pretty much final as Im 100 percent satisfied with the gameplay and see no reason to chase my tail. I don’t really see how it could get much better than what I’ve been experiencing personally.
Ok, seriously, the sliders already...

I've always found myself in previous years loving your sliders, I'll definitely be giving these a shot later on this evening.

Thanks again for posting...and for the well thought out intro. And of course, thanks to Al too, as I've been using his up to this point!

Your stats look pretty good. Just a hair low compared to recent NHL averages -- roughly 5.5 goals, 6 PPs, 60 shots -- but adding a minute or two in period length should accomplish that if desired.

I need to find time to plug in some sliders and have at it. These (and Al's by extension) look like a good base.

Re: OBG's NHL 17 Sliders All Star-10 min Periods

Just played one quick game. Like these a lot. Tired of stumbling along the boards and missing the net, but overall these had a good feel. I plan on getting in a few more games this weekend so I will get a better feel for them.

Missing the net is an annoying fact of life in the NHL. lol Look forward to your impressions. They are set in stone for me personally, so obviously feel free to tweak to suit your needs.

This is an extremely difficult thing to explain...I'd almost rather you call me on the phone lol. You have to be careful but once you figure out all the settings menus and how its set up, they do stay the same.
